“Great location, lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed for two nights in room one. This room is not a bad size, and the bed was really comfortable. The room had a fridge and plenty of tea/coffee. The location of the motel is on a quiet square, perfect for the Brighton centre, and 5 minute walk to sea front and shopping centre.

Breafast was lovely - It was brought to our room each day, and was always hot and tasted lovely. I loved the homefries and radish sauce.

Overall, a very friendly and comfortable place to stay. Would recommend a stay.

“Brilliant find in central Brighton”

We have been staying in Brighton now regularly as we have a daughter at the university and each time try a different hotel in the hope of finding something good. I happened to walk past Motel Schmotel whenI was staying at the Queensbury Hotel (not so good) in Regency Square.
It looked interesting from the outside and it is in a very peaceful square, very close to the Churchill shopping centre and seafront. We stayed last Saturday (4th) and were given a very warm welcome by the owner Amsy and the keys to room 5 which is pictured on their website - 2nd photo down on the right hand column with the red blind on the window. The room was small but I knew this from reading all the other reviews on trip advisor. The shower is in a cupboard but nicely designed. If you want spacious rooms and large bathrooms then this isn't the place for you. It is compact but for a short stay right in the centre of town you can't beat it. It is very clean, the bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in, the linen was good quality and they really go to town on providing you with a fantastic breakfast which you can have brought up to your room on a tray. The bread is homemade, the sausages and bacon are organic and local and there is chilli jam too and great coffee. There is also a mini fridge in your room with a small bottle of milk and a litre of water plus loads of teabags and coffee. It is also really quiet so you get a very restful nights sleep. Some hotels in Brighton can be very noisy but Russell Square is just tucked away from the throng. We stayed in the Thistle on the seafront 3 weeks ago on a top secret deal on Lastminute.com and it wasn't a patch on this place. We will stay here from now on as it feels like you are staying with friends. We were even allowed to keep our room a little longer without extra charge. If you book this hotel and need to park then it is half the price to park in the Regency Square car park which is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. If you park in NCP opposite Russell Square you will be charged about £24 instead of £12. You don't need a car once you are here as it is really central.

Room Tip: We didn't have much choice as we booked very last minute but if you go on the website it explain...

“Great place to stay in Brighton”

Very friendly place to stay, clean and comfortable rooms, nice big bed in room 6 and nice touches like the penguin biscuits and good supply of coffee and tea. Really liked the grolsh style bottle of milk and water in the little fridge too. Good strong shower really wakes you up and the central heating made the room very cosy. As for the breakfast options- very diverse and large, particularly enjoyed the home made fresh bread which set you up for the day.
All in all a great experience and excellent location for exploring Brighton.
Also suggest using Regency Parking the Hotel owners suggested them and they are just around the corner (need to book in advance but half the price of everyone else and safe)

Room Tip: Look online at the website as the rooms are easy to identify and book

“What Great Little Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed here for two nights in January and were so pleased we had booked at Motel Schmotel. It was a great little find. Paul and Amsy the proprietors couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Our room although small was spotlessly clean with lots of little amenities including a small fridge with fresh milk and bottled water. The breakfast menu offered a wide choice and the option for breakfast in bed was most welcome. Paul gave us first class advice on what to do and where to eat in this amazing part of the south coast. There is no doubt that this establishment fully deserves its AA 3 Star rating and special comendation from the AA for their breakfasts. It's real value for money and was considerably cheaper than other B and B's we considered booking in the Brighton area. You really can't go wrong here and it doesn't break the bank either. We hope to back.
