We have been staying in Brighton now regularly as we have a daughter at the university and each time try a different hotel in the hope of finding something good. I happened to walk past Motel Schmotel whenI was staying at the Queensbury Hotel (not so good) in Regency Square.
It looked interesting from the outside and it is in a very peaceful square, very close to the Churchill shopping centre and seafront. We stayed last Saturday (4th) and were given a very warm welcome by the owner Amsy and the keys to room 5 which is pictured on their website - 2nd photo down on the right hand column with the red blind on the window. The room was small but I knew this from reading all the other reviews on trip advisor. The shower is in a cupboard but nicely designed. If you want spacious rooms and large bathrooms then this isn't the place for you. It is compact but for a short stay right in the centre of town you can't beat it. It is very clean, the bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in, the linen was good quality and they really go to town on providing you with a fantastic breakfast which you can have brought up to your room on a tray. The bread is homemade, the sausages and bacon are organic and local and there is chilli jam too and great coffee. There is also a mini fridge in your room with a small bottle of milk and a litre of water plus loads of teabags and coffee. It is also really quiet so you get a very restful nights sleep. Some hotels in Brighton can be very noisy but Russell Square is just tucked away from the throng. We stayed in the Thistle on the seafront 3 weeks ago on a top secret deal on Lastminute.com and it wasn't a patch on this place. We will stay here from now on as it feels like you are staying with friends. We were even allowed to keep our room a little longer without extra charge. If you book this hotel and need to park then it is half the price to park in the Regency Square car park which is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. If you park in NCP opposite Russell Square you will be charged about £24 instead of £12. You don't need a car once you are here as it is really central.
Room Tip: We didn't have much choice as we booked very last minute but if you go on the website it explain...
