Little parking available, on a main road, local boozer with rooms above. So I was getting nervous as I walked through the door. My anxiety worsened as I followed the barmaid up the stairs and along the shabby corridor to the room. But it all turned out ok, because the room had been recently refurbished, with new clean decor and furniture. In fact it was probably the nicest room in our weeklong exploration of Dorset.

This is a pub on a busy crossroads oposite Dorchester Hospital. There is only one parking place for 5 letting rooms, no free parking nearby. The building is pretty shabby and in need of serious work. The room had been refurbished, superficially, but some huge fundamental problems with the building and the staffing.

I had a bad night. My room was very wet, due rain dripping through leaking ceiling. No alt room available and no alt accom locally. Bed very creaky, lots of noise from room above and road, and linen had definitely seen better days. No breakfast before 8.30, and this is continental brakfast only (ie tea, cereal and toast). There was no element of 'service' during my stay, a few apologies but no solutions.
I would stay here again ONLY as a last resort.
