“Highly recommended”

We selected the Avalon for a two day one night break in the Bournemouth area and were pleased with what we found.
Firstly a friendly and welcoming greeting when we arrived by Olga who showed us to our room and covered any questions that we had. We stayed in Arthur which was a nicely presented room with a decent sized bed and sofa. Also a nice sized double wardrobe for hanging items, a single sized shelved cupboard and two decent bedside cabinets. Tea making facilities and two bottles of water as well which were a nice touch, also a nice sized TV with freeview included.

Bathroom was very good with plenty of cupboard space, complimentary toiletries and a large heated towel rail. Very large sized shower cubicle and an excellent shower itself. Like the room the bathroom was finished to a high standard. The only I would have liked would have been larger bath towels or sheets for coming out of the shower but that was a minor thing.

Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cereals and cooked items. We met Paul who took the time to chat and take orders without wanting to rush you. You can see that he is genuinely interested in guests and that they are happy during their stay.

There are enough parking spaces for rooms at the Avalon and there is ample street parking, though that may be used during busier times as the hotel is only a hundred yards or so from the front. There is also internet access available downstairs though don't believe that there is Wi-fi available.

We didn't book an evening meal and were looking to eat locally within walking distance. That wasn't too successful as we did not find very much on the nearby main road ( about 200 yds ), plenty of takeaways as well as a Co-op and Tesco Express but not restaurants. So we did end up driving into Bournemouth which wasn't a problem and did pass some Indian, Chinese and Italian places on the way. That can be both a plus and minus for people depending on their evening meals wants, if you want a better choice of restaurants then either stay nearer to Bournemouth or be prepared to drive or get a taxi.

Overall I have to say that, for couples, the Avalon is a great place to stay and I would recommend it without hesitation. It is located in a nice area and the hotel is of an excellent standard and run with a focus on providing good service at a fair price. Would happily go back again !

“Perfect Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2012

The Avalon Beach Hotel is a perfect retreat for any family and when they say they are only minuets walk from a long sandy beach with many attractions they are not wrong the hotel is situated in a lovely and safe area.
The hotel staff are extremely friendly and took our children in to the garden to feed the rabbits while we enjoyed a cup of tea, the rooms are very clean and well furnished with good quality fixtures.
Even the owner gets involved serving breakfast and generally chatting with you making the whole stay very welcoming and I will be recommending the hotel to friends and family 100%.

“Lovely location and brilliant hospitality!”

The Avalon Beach hotel was a fantastic place to stay during my research in Bournemouth. The room I stayed in was spacious, very clean and had all the essentials plus more. The window of the room faced the sun in the morning for sunrise. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice to choose from every morning. The evening meal was fantastic, each day the restaurant provided delicious meals and the portions were very generous. I worked at the AECC clinic for 6 weeks, and the location of the hotel was roughly 5-10 minutes walk away, there was different options to the clinic. A walk along the beach was fantastic during a sunny day. The beach is only a minute away, you could hear the sea from the hotel! Public transport to the town centre was relatively simple, buses comes regularly and train station was nearby that provided trains to London.

When I had free time, I spent some time in the lounge to relax with the staff and watched some movies. The staff were fantastic, helpful and extremely friendly.

“WOW!!!”

We went here as a family and loved the room we stayed in. It had 2 single beds and 1 camp bed. We had a very small, but smart kitchen with a microwave, a couple of cupboards, bowls etc. and a fridge. We also had breakfast there and compliments to the chef for the scones and the banana bread. The back garden/ playground for children is lovely. The play house has lovely rabbits in there and a wide range of Toys for all ages. I strongly suggest going here! Overall, we have been 4 times since 2009!

“A fantastic place to stay!”

My family spent our second summer at Avalon and once again the experience was excellent! Our young children love the place, especially the rabbits and the games room, and the two minute walk to the beach is an added bonus. It is also woth noting that above the beach there is a fantastic playground for children, with crazy golf and putting facilities, as well as a very nice cafe. There is also a very good range of shops at the end of the, very handy for all the essentials travelling with a young family necessitates.

The staff at Avalon couldn't be more helpful and though my family hadn't booked breakfast, my mother, who was with us, had and my daughter was given a free breakfast everyone morning and allowed to sit with her.

We also brought friends with us on this trip and they too thought very highly of Avalon.

We are all looking forward to going back again next year!
