“We loved it”

Have just come back from a stay at the Riviera hotel paid the extra for the sea view room which had a balcony ideal for a smoker,Rooms were very clean well stocked for toiletries, tea, coffee etc asked for some Earl grey and it was taken straight to the room for us.Had the 3 course Evening meal which was heaven with everything cooked from fresh NO catering packs of meat thank god ,Staff every where we went were attentive and nothing was too much trouble,Breakfast was the same, plenty of choice and staff brilliant again,we couldnt fault it.The only downside for some people is it is 10 minute walk to Allum chine beach down hill so the climb back is not for those with disabilities but that is all i could say would be against anyone stopping here Well done the staff at the Riviera

Room Tip: chose a balcony room if you are smoker saves going down in lift each time we had room 304

Dear Guest

Thank you for your fantastic comments. The sea view rooms really offer a great view and that extra bit of balcony space to relax on. I have passed on your great comments about our food to the kitchen team.

I hope you return again soon.

Kind regards,

“Overnight stay in January”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We enjoyed an overnight stay here this weekend. A friend was celebrating her 50th birthday here. Our room on the 2nd floor was very clean, had a balcony, fairly spacy and had a balcony and sea view. This could no doubt all be enjoyed so much more in the summer.

The hotel was I believe quite full - which says a lot for it, in January!

The bar staff at the party were very good - polite and helpful - which helped make the evening enjoyable.

There was some noisy chatting in the corridor before 9am the next morning, from some of the other older guests from another party, but they sounded as though they were enjoying themselves - presumably early to bed, early to rise, whereas we were the opposite! Still nothing worth complaining about.

Impressed with the breakfast - the restaurant was certainly busy and the waiters did a good job, making sure you had your drinks. help-yourself-butter - plenty and hot! As I remarked, set us up for the day ahead.

Check-in/check-out quick, friendly and easy.

Only slight annoyance - there are approx. 30-40 car parking spaces in front of and behind the hotel and all were taken when we arrived in the early evening. Luckily we were able to park in a nearby road. If I were to stay here again I would ask them to reserve a space, especially if it were in the summer. "First-come, first-served" as stated in their terms and conditions is not a great option!

TIP: This hotel is in an excellent location, walking distance to a beautiful beach, but parking is extremely limited in the whole area, with plenty of double yellow lines, so if you have a car make sure you have a parking space.

Room Tip: There are rooms with balconies and sea views, and 2nd floor should ensure minimal noise.

“Overnight Stay November”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Once we arrived at this hotel in the quiet area of Bournemouth, we were surprised at how nice, clean and professional the layout of the hotel.

The staff were fantastic in their meet and greet, making sure we were happy with everything we received prior to our room. We got to our room and I was very pleased to see everything was in working order. Nice clean sheets and a fantastic bathroom. Everything was spotless as I expected.

We asked reception for some local information e.g. how long to walk to Bournemouth Town Centre, they said it was 5 minutes. I'm afraid this was not the case, it took like 20 minutes each way on the sea front to reach the middle bay of the coast. A bit misleading i must say.

Overall, thoroughly pleased with the visit and the attitude of the staff throughout the stay. The breakfast was exceptional and plenty to choose from. Parking is provided on site and secure at all times.

PS- the jacuzzi is to die for.. once you get it working.

Room Tip: Always get a double room.

“Twixmas at The Riviera”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

people found this review helpful

We stayed there for a Twixmas Break. The food was very good and can not be faulted. The hotel decor was fine. Our bedroom was a good size. Good location about 5 mins from lovely little beach at Alum Chine but down a steep hill. The staff were all very welcoming and obliging. I felt that the free entertainment provided after dinner was not as good as all of the other facilities.

Room Tip: Rooms above the Bar/Dancing Areas best avoided if you plan early to bed/quiet night

“Lovely food, dated decor”

We stayed there for a Masonic weekend. The food was very good and can not be faulted. The hotel decor was OK but a bit dated. Our bedroom however was small and very hot. Good location about 5 mins from lovely little beach at Alum Chine but down a steep hill.
