“Overnight Stay November”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Once we arrived at this hotel in the quiet area of Bournemouth, we were surprised at how nice, clean and professional the layout of the hotel.

The staff were fantastic in their meet and greet, making sure we were happy with everything we received prior to our room. We got to our room and I was very pleased to see everything was in working order. Nice clean sheets and a fantastic bathroom. Everything was spotless as I expected.

We asked reception for some local information e.g. how long to walk to Bournemouth Town Centre, they said it was 5 minutes. I'm afraid this was not the case, it took like 20 minutes each way on the sea front to reach the middle bay of the coast. A bit misleading i must say.

Overall, thoroughly pleased with the visit and the attitude of the staff throughout the stay. The breakfast was exceptional and plenty to choose from. Parking is provided on site and secure at all times.

PS- the jacuzzi is to die for.. once you get it working.

Room Tip: Always get a double room.

“Twixmas at The Riviera”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stayed there for a Twixmas Break. The food was very good and can not be faulted. The hotel decor was fine. Our bedroom was a good size. Good location about 5 mins from lovely little beach at Alum Chine but down a steep hill. The staff were all very welcoming and obliging. I felt that the free entertainment provided after dinner was not as good as all of the other facilities.

Room Tip: Rooms above the Bar/Dancing Areas best avoided if you plan early to bed/quiet night

“Lovely food, dated decor”

We stayed there for a Masonic weekend. The food was very good and can not be faulted. The hotel decor was OK but a bit dated. Our bedroom however was small and very hot. Good location about 5 mins from lovely little beach at Alum Chine but down a steep hill.

“Average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I may have stayed at a bad time as lots of people were having christmas parties at the hotel so there was no parking, although there was not that many spaces anyway. The room was nice and comfy but the TV was fixed on the wall the bed headboard was against so you could not see the TV, plus it was a small TV. The internet dropped out a lot but the weather was very bad so it could have affected it. The bad weather also whistled through the windows a lot. Overall an OK hotel but I had a bit of a bad experience.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments. I hope you have the opportunity to visit us again. In mid december (like most hotels) we were in our peak xmas party season but I hope this didn't disturb you too much.

“Great weekend at the Riviera!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Have just returned from a weekend, (2 nights), at the Riviera. We were part of a party of 74 on a Ladies Festival weekend, (black tie, toastmaster etc on the Saturday night!).
The hotel also had quite a large wedding on the Saturday in the daytime so it was pretty busy.
We found the welcome excellent and all the staff very friendly. We were in room 211 which had a balcony with a good sea view. The room had a double and a single bed, although we didn't need the single, and was very clean and nicely appointed. The bathroom was good with a bath and shower over. We did have a problem in that we had no hot water when we arrived but staff were quick to summon a maintenance man and it was rectified in no time.
Food was excellent even though on the Friday evening service was a little slow due to the number of diners.
The pool area had a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna and although the decor was a bit tired the water in the pool was lovely and warm. A member of staff said the area was on programme for a facelift over the coming winter.
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the beach and probably 20 from Bournemouth centre walking along the sea front. The last bit back to the hotel is up a steep hill but there is a regular bus service from the town.
All the bars, lounges and function rooms were well appointed, light airy and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely do so again.

Room Tip: We had a balcony room which was very nice. There was a lady in the hotel with a Retriever dog. I th...

Dear Guest

Thank you for your kind review which I have passed on to the team. The Riviera is a popular venue for Masonic weekends and I am glad you enjoyed yours.

We will be doing some work to our indoor pool area soon which we think will look lovely when completed.

I hope you visit us again.
