“Ok hotel but great bar/ restaurant area !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed here on a Friday night with my partner as it was my 36th birthday. We live in the area and We have been to this hotel many times before for a night out in thier bar and also for day drinks by the pool (which is lovely in the summer). This time we opted to stay the night, however , the room was not a nice as we thought would have been. The room had a slight damp smell to it but not unbearable , the wallpaper was slightly coming away indicating that perhaps there had been a leak of some kind as it was an inside wall. The room was not bad enough to request a room change , however , on a fairly quiet night for the hotel I thought that we should hand been given a better room , it was standard room we booked but it still wasn't that great with poor view from window facing other bedrooms . The bar food was nice and great cocktails , the only small thing was the waiter forgot our pre-starter olives selection dish then once reminded it was bought out with mains. The breakfast was ok although coffee was from a vending type machine and not fresh and for the money really should be better . Overall the stay was a good one and well worth it for the bar area and atmosphere!.

Dear TJD5, thank you for being a great customer of the hotel, particularly the food and beverage operation. Our coffee at Breakfast is actually Dow Egberts premium coffee, the self serve machines were placed in for customer convenience in line with many European and London hotels, we also have the option of fresh Costa coffee from the bar at a supplement.
Regarding rooms, we do upgrade when the hotel is quieter, if I could point you to our mission statement on the website, and in room folder, we do provide 3 star modern comfortable rooms, with public facilties and service being of much higher rating. We also do have a rolling programme with regarding to room refreshment and I have already added your room to the front of this programme, thank you for the feedback.

“levy's review”

A very nice hotel, well appointed in an art deco theme, I was upgraded to a family seaview room that had a magnificent view overlooking the coast, a very nice balcony which was a suntrap with the sun on it all day so even in the cold weather the balcony was lovely and warm.
The room was a bit sparse but had plenty of room.
The bar area and the lounge was comfortable but a little bit chilly, could have done with heating up a bit, the staff were quite friendly but not overly, the reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was pretty average but very expensive for what it was, but overall a pleasant stay and would recommend it to any one looking for a reasonably inexpensive stay without any luxury.

Room Tip: ask for a seaview

Dear mikelevy, thank you for an all round great review. I am very pleased you enjoyed your sea view room and balcony, and the service at the hotel. Regarding food, we do have an AA rosette in our brasserie Ventana, which also has some great offers on 2 for 1 main courses Monday to Thursday, not sure if you realised this. The Mirabelle prix fix menu is also discounted at £20.95 for residents which is 3 courses plus coffee. Hope to see you return again soon.

“Great location but a little creaky”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed for a weekend break, location was great as room had a brilliant view of the sea. However the walls were a little thin and the floors were very creaky! Arrived to find a wedding was booked on the Saturday so was concerned about noise but never heard a thing. Breakfast was great with lots of choice

Dear happy guest, thank you for the super comments regarding room and breakfast. Apologies for the creaky floor, being a 1930's build art Deco structure, the hotel does have some quirks, we are eradicating these slowly as we continue our rolling programme of carpet replacement.

“Well trained staff make a big difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Have just spent 4 nights at this Hotel with a group of 53 others on a Bargain Break . Food was excellent but, more importantly ,the service from everyone concerned was great . ( No English staff , all were well trained and spoke excellent English ) . Beds were clean and comfy .
Most hotels have weddings at weekends but it's the first time ever that we had a letter of apology prior to the event ,an assurance as to when the Disco would finish and the offer of ear plugs ! In the event ,despite being on the 1st floor and quite near to the venue , the noise wasn't that bad . The only comment I'd make is that ,being an older hotel ,it isn't too well sound proofed and the water took forever to run hot .
