“Nice hotel, on the edge of everything you need to reach in Bournemouth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel with my 17 year old son the night before his interview at University (about 2 miles away) in February 2012
We were warmly greeted on arrival and given our keys. Our room was chalet style with a double bed (mine!) and a larger single bed (his). The room was warm and cleanly presented. We used the indoor swimming pool which was located in a building of its own about 20 yards from our room. This was great and warm, despite the near freezing temperatures outside (our visit was in Feb). Within walking distance were dozens of restaurants, mainly the ASK, PIZZA EXPRESS, CAFE ROUGE, Chinese, Greek, Lebanase type of places and not high end.
Beds were comfortable. Shower/bathroon was good.
Next morning the cooked breakfast was very good, the buffet was extensive and a great start to the day. The staff at breakfast were very attentive and the service very good.
This was a nice stay, very cost effective, the hotel was actually better than we had expected, and we have no hesitation in recommending it.

Room Tip: Chalet rooms, while outside the main hotel was practically next door to the pool which was in its ow...

“Lovely weekend getaway with the family!”

This is one of the best experiences we have had in a UK hotel. Not much you could fault! Very good quality food, we particularly liked the chicken and ham pie, risotto and the sticky toffee. Excellent value from beginning to end! We found it great that the hotel is located 5 mins from the beach and 10 from the centre, but still quiet enough. All members of staff that we encountered were very polite, friendly and helpfull! We would definitely return and would recomend the hotel to anyone!

It is always so nice to start the day with such a positive and complimentary review for which I thank you. The staff were very touched by your comments and it is most refreshing when people write a review because they thought it was good rather than only ever commenting when they feel let down.
Please keep recommending us and come back and see us soon - we love customers like you!!

Kind regrads

“Fffffffrreeeeezzzzing!!!! Worst night ever..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Let's start with advice, don't put your coat or scarf on until you ENTER the room or you won't feel the benefit!!!! Overall adequate hotel, but I am writing this after having to abandon my room at 5am on one of this winters coldest nights as it is simply too cold to sleep. NO heating is on and it is now 6am, the windows are 1940's missen hut steel ones that don't shut properly and that isn't helping. Never in my life have I ever had to don clothing and march to reception in the early hours to beg for heating and complain, to add insult to injury the main corridor by the lift is like the Caribbean in comparison and despite using the additional blanket I found in the wardrobe I am now considering dragging that out and kipping out there for warmth. Roll on 8am so I can leave and get the heating on in the car. Consider only if its less than £30 AND you're desperate, if its winter bring your own electric heater you apparently WILL need it.

I am so sorry to read that you were so cold during your stay at the hotel. I have investigated the matter and the plumbers fortunately found a seized valve on the radiator - so whilst I do apologise whole heartedly I also thank you for bringing this to my attention. We do keep the heating boilers on 24 hours a day at the moment and also offer supplementary electric heaters for those who enjoy high temperatures in their rooms.
Please accept our profuse apologies for your cold stay and perhaps you will consider returning so we can set the record straight and keep you warm as toast for the night!

Kind regards

“Lovely weekend break and excellent value for money ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Stayed here for a weekend break with my husband and it was well worth it. The hotel is great value for money and the hotel is in a great location for Bournemouth town centre and Bournemouth beaches and seafront. The staff are very friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. The rooms are clean and well presented with lovely hot showers. The food is outstanding .... Fresh, well presented and a good choice on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Would definately recommend this hotel for a weekend away and we will be returning back here in the summer. Thanks to all the staff at the Best Western Hotel Royale in Bournemouth for a lovely weekend !

“Better value than Premier Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We travel to particpate in national sports competitions around England and have been using travel lodge in the last year because we are on very tight budget with no sponsorship. Read mixed reviews from tripadvisor, decided to take a risk and booked this hotel as Premier Inn and travel lodge was more expensive this time and we were participating in a national sports competition in Bournemouth and its so important to get a good sleep the night before the competition.
We had the family room 301, although small compare to some other hotels family room the bunk beds were much better than pull out sofa beds in the Travel lodges. Everyone had a good night sleep, the room was very clean and we hoped this is usual standard but we did email ahead to inform the hotel we have an Asthma sufferer in our group so must be dust free. Previously in another hotel in Sheffield dust in room had triggered off an asthma attack and we needed to seek medical attention so we always check now.
The bathroom was very clean, had enough toiletries layed out for all four of us. The water pressure and dripping tap in bath was the only let down, we still managed to get a shower ok.
There was some traffic noise as our room faced the main road, but as its a quiet weekend in January we weren't disturbed.
The breakfast was good, had enough varieties of cereals and yoghurts for a high energy breakfast but the hot food wasn't all there at the same time, so we had half of what was on offered and saw them bring out the other items just when we had finished. The toaster was a novelty and the younger kids loved it watching the toast going through and it meant fresh hot toast, I love it fresh straight off the toaster. We didn't bother with dinner as it was very expensive, but the hotel is within walking distance to some reasonable priced resturants towards the sea front.
We arrived too late to use the swimming pool, so didnt get a chance to see the facilities, which was a shame.
We didn't mind paying the £2 for parking as its going towards charity but if it wasn't then on principal hotel parking should be free.
We would stay there again if we go back to Bournemouth for another competition, the receptionist was very friendly and she wished us all good luck as there was another sports team staying there for a different tournement.

Room Tip: Its a good value for money hotel, it was basic but clean and comfortable which is all we needed for...
