We travel to particpate in national sports competitions around England and have been using travel lodge in the last year because we are on very tight budget with no sponsorship. Read mixed reviews from tripadvisor, decided to take a risk and booked this hotel as Premier Inn and travel lodge was more expensive this time and we were participating in a national sports competition in Bournemouth and its so important to get a good sleep the night before the competition.
We had the family room 301, although small compare to some other hotels family room the bunk beds were much better than pull out sofa beds in the Travel lodges. Everyone had a good night sleep, the room was very clean and we hoped this is usual standard but we did email ahead to inform the hotel we have an Asthma sufferer in our group so must be dust free. Previously in another hotel in Sheffield dust in room had triggered off an asthma attack and we needed to seek medical attention so we always check now.
The bathroom was very clean, had enough toiletries layed out for all four of us. The water pressure and dripping tap in bath was the only let down, we still managed to get a shower ok.
There was some traffic noise as our room faced the main road, but as its a quiet weekend in January we weren't disturbed.
The breakfast was good, had enough varieties of cereals and yoghurts for a high energy breakfast but the hot food wasn't all there at the same time, so we had half of what was on offered and saw them bring out the other items just when we had finished. The toaster was a novelty and the younger kids loved it watching the toast going through and it meant fresh hot toast, I love it fresh straight off the toaster. We didn't bother with dinner as it was very expensive, but the hotel is within walking distance to some reasonable priced resturants towards the sea front.
We arrived too late to use the swimming pool, so didnt get a chance to see the facilities, which was a shame.
We didn't mind paying the £2 for parking as its going towards charity but if it wasn't then on principal hotel parking should be free.
We would stay there again if we go back to Bournemouth for another competition, the receptionist was very friendly and she wished us all good luck as there was another sports team staying there for a different tournement.
Room Tip: Its a good value for money hotel, it was basic but clean and comfortable which is all we needed for...
