“Excellent Excellent Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

My wife and myself along with our two friends have just come back from a 2 night stay at Summerlands, Torquay. This guest house is more than worth its 4 Star AA rating. In fact the rooms are superior to a large 4 star hotel on the outskirts of the town, we stayed at earlier in the year. Everything in this guest house is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The whole place is tastefully decorated and the owners, Paul and Joy are more than happy to help and advise on anything to help you enjoy your stay. We were even allowed to check in over 2 hours early. Breakfast is a selection of friut juices, cereals and toast along with a choice of a very nicely cooked full english or poached eggs or porridge. The full english was very nicely cooked using good quality meats, along with a vegetarian sausage option. The owners are passionate about what they offer their guests and it shows through in their helpful nature, spotlessly clean facilities and tasteful decor. This guest house is a real jem at an amazingly low affordable budget price. There was a small free car park available and free secure wifi.

I stayed at Summerland for two nights and could not fault it. Rooms were clean, and well equipted. Within walking distance of Riviera centre and town centre. Lots of restaurants etc nearby.
Excellent english breakfast (also very flexible with time it was available), owner very friendly.
Would definately use this guest house again and reccomend to others

“Spacious, clean & comfortable rooms.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2010

We stayed at this B&B for one night and booked two rooms; one for myself and my husband and one for my parents. We don’t usually stay in b&bs (prefer hotels) as we were previously put off by owners who gave you no space at breakfast etc but the owners here were really nice. We were greeted firstly by a lovely man who was helpful with any questions/directions and checked us into our rooms even though we were an hour early.

The b&b is situated on a road that leads down to the beach (downhill on the way there), with parking for 3/4 cars. There is a Beefeater just a few mins away on the same road for a cheap meal (connected to the premier inn) and various hotels with free evening entertainment for non-residents. You can also walk to the harbour/town which isn’t far away (you can take the scenic longer route on the seafront or take the shorter route behind the b&b to the town).

Both of the rooms we stayed in were very clean, spacious and well kept, as was the hallway and breakfast area. The whole building has Lovely high ceilings so makes the rooms not enclosed. We stayed in room 2, the superior double with a comfy leather tub chair and (extremely!) comfortable bed with feather pillows. The room had lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets and even two (free) bottles of water which was nice touch on a hot day. There was a Mini fridge in the cupboard but we found the room cool enough. My parents also enjoyed their spacious family room (double and single). All the rooms had free wi-fi on a secure network (you just enter a password to access it) which was great as I noticed there was a few b&bs nearby with unsecure networks that you could easily access!!

In the morning we had a tasty cooked-to-order breakfast (vegetarian sausage option too) with as much toast/cereal and tea/coffee/juice as you like. The only thing I missed from a standard hotel buffet breakfast was the mini croissants/danishes. All-in-all we would highly recommend this b&b especially for couples and families and would visit again.

Thanks again, Mr & Mrs Baker

“Clean and friendly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2009

Summerlands was very easy to find and in a great location, only a couple of minutes walking distance to the seafront. The whole place was clean and beautifully decorated. The new owners were very helpful and friendly giving us a warm welcome.Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. Overall a great little place to stay. The car park however was a little small. On the whole Summerlands is good value for money and a lovely place to stay.

“Lovely and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2008

Summerlands is a great little B&B right in the heart of Torquay.

The rooms are spacious and well presented (we had a superior on the ground floor) with comfy bed, good storage and compact bathroom with plenty of hot water.

Breakfast was excellent and the two guys running the B&B were always available for help / advice and assistance as requested.

Overall a great little B&B, comfortable and with a great welcome. Excellently located.
