I had a two night stay in the Townstal Farmhouse Hotel, where I received excellent care and service. The beautiful building is just far enough out of the town centre to enjoy a leisurely stroll and some fantastic views, but close enough that a ten minute walk leaves you in the middle of everything. Having arrived late, I found Nigel waiting with my keys and a cheerful manner.
The rooms in the other building are especially wonderful if you fancy a bit of freedom and privacy, but the balance between good service and being left to your own devices is perfect (for those people wary of hotel staff constantly on your back!).
The rooms are spacious and clean, with fresh towels and toiletries, plenty of bedding and pillows, and a flatscreen television. The breakfast isn't ridiculously early and there are no problems in providing alternatives (as a vegetarian I found myself not wanting for anything).
Always at hand with plenty of help in getting places or catching buses, I was even able to leave my bag while I wandered around on the afternoon of my departure.
Highly recommended, cosy and friendly with a real family feel.
