Spent a weekend with friends and had a lovely stay, extremely clean-don't know when I saw such shiny taps etc in bathroom-anything that had to shine certainly did so. Comfortable lounge with log fire which was very welcome when returning in the evening. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast well cooked and presented. I could only find one fault and that was the lighting in room 5 not good enough to read in bed/ so to sum up - this is a well appointed hotel, comfortable and friendly. Despite being on the junction of the main road it was very, very quiet with no traffic noise whatever.

Stayed at the Townstall as the charity house band b boiler exploded.The room was nice , we stayed in the honeymoon room with the four poster.I can only think the bed has had a lot of use ,as I and my partner kept rolling towards eachother as the matress so soft and sunk a bit

There was a couple of stains on one of the pillow cases.

Plus points are that there is plenty of parking which might be an issue if you were staying closer to town.The breakfast was fine

As a walk in, arriving frazzled and late I personally felt I was met as if I was family, no demand for credit card etc. My bags carried to a spacious, immaculate room with ambient temperature, great power shower. The place was fully booked otherwise. The breakfast was fresh, great choices, and the poached eggs perfect every time. The hosts spent time in conversation as if you were the only one there, yet they kept everyone happy. An art of friendly, helpful service that knocks socks off the 5 star hotels I normally frequent. The humour along with perfect organization was so relaxing to be around. I was house hunting and only wanted to book in for one night. I felt so looked after with fresh towels and meticulous cleaning, with no pounding on the door to oust you up to do it, that I stayed 3 nights instead of one. If you complain about this place you really are a miserable traveler!! And believe me I'm fussy! Thank you proprietors for being brilliant at your profession!!

We love this place - great friendly proprietors - lovely spot, very handy for the town. The hotel itself is a lovely old building and the facilities available are excellent - they will even cook you an evening meal, if you ask nicely - great home cooking which is delicious.
