There isn't really anything else we can say about Salt House that hasn't been said by previous reviewers - except perhaps that Sharon does exist, and she is lovely too.

One day we'd like to run a high end B&B in St Ives and if we get close to the standard at Salt House we'll be delighted. Alan and Sharon deserve all the success they've obviously had already with this fantastic place to stay and we'd recommend it without reservation.

Truly a lovely place to stay, we echo most of the previous reviews. The Salt House exceeds our experiences of many a hotel, it is especially nice having your own entrance gives a real feeling of privacy to enjoy the lovely surroundings, the view is fabulous straight out to sea from bed , bath or chair. As for the bed SO nice to get a double bed and not two mattresses pushed together! An easy walk to St lives and with the coast path at the end of your garden a real joy to be freed from using the car. Alan is warm and friendly no sign of guest fatigue but he carries a sence of really hoping you enjoy your stay without being intrusive. A lot could be learned by other B and B's/ hotels on how to get it right from The Salt House.

Room Tip: we stayed in the North room, fabulous free standing bath with a sea view!

“Fabulous, really loved it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Arrived to a warm welcome and some helpful advice on where to eat - lots of our favourites were closed. The room (North) was breathtakingly lovely and super clean, it was dark on arrival so we had to wait for the view. Not a worry, you could while away hours looking at the room. The bathroom was amazing, very inviting bath. Woke up to the view, exceptional - especially when we watched the sun rise on the patio wrapped in a lovely warm blanket from the room. Breakfast was lovely (they do a great poached egg) delivered to our room. The location is good too, just a 20 min walk along the Coastal path into St Ives. We ate at our favourite Porthminster Beach Cafe, a must do if you love fresh fish and seafood (have the monkfish curry). We left the B&B umbrella there which Alan was very forgiving about!
It wasnt long before we wandered back to the Salt House to enjoy a film and more view admiring. This place is a treasure and cannot be faulted.

The salt house is as lovely as all the reviews say. The rooms are amazing and so well decorated. We stayed in the north room which has a stunning bathroom and view from a very large bath tube out over across Cornwalls' coast lines and its one of those rooms ware if you could you you either pick it up off its foundations and take it home with you or try really hard to mimick its style at home but probably fail. The food was amazing and so yummy! I haven't had such a good breakfast before and my partner whose not always so easy to get to eat breakfast ate his and enjoyed it all too so it was big success. We stayed there on my birthday and they were kind enough to bring up plates and cutlery so we could cut and eat the cake we'd bought with us and we didn't even have to ask or mention anything, they were just waiting there on our return from our day trip out.Its lovely thoughtful gestures like that, that makes the salt house so lovely. Its a well run B&B and I can't wait to go back, thank you for a lovely few days away from it all!

Excellent & believe me I am pretty hard to please!
As others have said the term B&B does the Salt House an injustice...it's a lot better than some hotels I have stayed in. It has everything ...spectular views, great location with easy access into St Ives & great walks on your door step, you really don't have to get the car out at all.
Lovely little touches too such as Sky Plus, fresh milk, local chocolates & one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time delivered to your door using local produce.
I really can't praise the Salt House enough...in fact I have just booked to go back next year...twice!

Room Tip: Both are amazing so it really does not matter.
