“Excellent hotel”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Sea views are spectacular, rooms clean and comfortable, if a little 'tired'. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. Food was of a good standard with generous portions.

Room Tip: Try to get a sea view. I am told the second floor has the best views.

“Fantastic location and fabulous staff!”

We booked this Hotel off a website for 2 nights after a week in St Ives, we weren't expecting much as we got an excellent deal for a family room, how wrong were we! The location has to be one of the best in Newquay with fantastic views over the beach and ocean, they even have their own private steps down to the beach. The staff are so friendly and helpful they made our stay! Our bedroom was a family room which was sea view (Room 12), we liked the fact that the twin beds were in a separate room to the main bedroom and it was nicely decorated, if I'm being picky the bathroom was a bit small and whilst very clean was a little dated. They have a swimming pool and a cinema which was great to keep the children entertained and us! We originally booked on a B&B basis but ended up staying for dinner as this is excellent value and the restaurant over looks the beach. We will definitely return to this wonderful Hotel!

“Good and Bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

Good - The hotel situated right on access to beach, but not good for less active as lots of steep steps to climb. Hotel ok for older kids with games room and pool. Local to shops, bars etc so didnt need to use car at all in the evenings. Family room size was good for teenagers. Kids did use the cinema once. Nice seating areas outside to relax.
Bad - 2 Receptionists very rude (one was owner), everything you asked it was an effort to get a polite reply. Throughout our 6 day stay there was only one member of staff that smiled and who was polite. Family room shower needs to be sorted as one minute cold then boiling hot water, would not be suitable for child that could not get out of shower quickly. Pool on 3rd day was very cloudy and dirty. Maid starts at 8.30am and actually wakes you up by knocking on your door. Bar does not open at 10.30am for drinks even though it clearly states this in the leaflet in your room. Had to walk to shops to get the kids a drink and go to my room to get a tea.
One thing I would recommend is using the surf school, had a really good instructor Max who made our families surfing lessons great fun.
If you dont mind having staff that seem to hate working at the Hotel as much as the owner seems to hate her guests then visit for the location as excellent beach & surfing lessons.

Room Tip: We had the family room which was adequate for our needs

Thank you for your review.
I am sorry you did not have a totally enjoyable experience with us.
Thank you for highlighting the positives, appreciate the comments and pleased we are not all bad.
The negatives are cause for concern and whilst we are not completely blameless for our shortcomings I would like to respond to these issues which ultimately can cost us business and jobs.
1. As the owner I am a male not a female who hates guests, I like 99.9% of my guests but there is always one to dislike but never hate, even on a bad day.
2.Generally my staff are happy, helpful and smile pretty much as often as possible and are never knowlingly rude to guests no matter how intimidating and abrasive the guest may appear to them!!
3. Sorry about your shower, it has been inspected and repaired, we didn't know there was a problem such as described as it was not reported.
4.Bar drinks are available from 7.30 a.m. - 11.30 p.m. from bar/reception which adjoin each other, you just have to ask.
5.The pool was cloudy? I don't think it was.
6. We serve tea in the lounges, gardens and this is available from reception by ordering it.
7. Please remember the next time you stay in a hotel please let them know if something is not quite to your liking and give them the opportunity to make amends.
8. I don't hate you, really!

I stayed here during the bank holiday weekend (27th-29th Aug), so it was a very busy period in Newquay. The hotel staff were very approachable and attentive, particularly the restaurant staff. There was a good spread for the breakfast and the hotel restaurant overlooks the beach. Amazing view!! Do note that you'll need to place an order if you want hot breakfast as it is cooked-to-order.

The room I stayed in was very clean, cosy and well-maintained. No complaints about it at all. I loved the location of the hotel as it sits on the top of a cliff and overlooks the beach and the blue ocean. It's also a short walk from the train station.

Newquay is an amazing town, particularly if you enjoy sea sports and the beach. I loved it and will definitely go back and stay at Trebarwith Hotel again!

Lovely hotel, Fantastic views, Very friendly staff, Great location.

We have just spent a couple of nights at The Trebarwith and found it to be a very welcoming and comfortable hotel. Just tucked behind the main streets although you felt as though you were miles away from all the noise and bustle. The views were fantastic. We had a sea view family room which was spotless, some furniture maybe a little dated but bathroom very modern. Could have spent the whole day just looking out of the window at the sea. Breakfast was lovely and staff very friendly. We have in the past paid a lot more for a flashy hotel nearby but felt that this matched it and more.
