“Number One in Cornwall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I've just got back from my second stay at this hotel and I have to say it's now my favourite place to stay in Cornwall.
I didn't use the spa, but the bar area's really nicely done, the restaurant's fantastic - turning out great evening meal's and breakfasts - and the views over Fistral Beach are stunning.
The rooms are clean and perfectly comfortable, although perhaps not as stylish or well equipped (no air con or ironing boards etc) as some you may find in more expensive hotels nearby, but somehow this doesn't matter as the whole place as a really chilled out vibe that means you can't help relax and enjoy.
Staff were really friendly and helpful and the wi-fi was free and really quick, making this hotel a good choice for business travellers like me as well as for holidaymakers and families.

Room Tip: I didn't pay to have a room with a sea view but was given one anyway. If a sea view's not es...

Dear Malhay, thank you for your lovely feedback. We do not have iron’s and ironing boards in the restaurant but we do have a guest laundry which is free for guest to use throughout their stay.

“Excellent all round”

Once a year me and my mother in law stay at The Bay Hotel and take full advantage of their Sunday Spa Special and our latest stay was this weekend just gone. It is quite simply fantastic value for money. The hotel is always been spotless and the customer service is fantastic you are made to feel really special and welcome. The swimming pool is wonderful- the ceiling is pricked with sparkling star like lights complete with steam room, sauna and jacuzzi and the gym facilities are very good. The food is gorgeous- the 3 course meal included in the package is always very smart and very very tasty.
The bedrooms are spotless, with sea views and you can hear the sea crashing away. The atmosphere is laid back and very relaxing, you can literally feel your stress melting away as soon as you walk in the door and all the staff we have met are lovely.
There are some beautiful walks as soon as you walk out of the hotel. We normally walk across the beautiful Fistral beach(perfect for surfing!) over to the Headland hotel (where The Witches was filmed) and have a coffee then go for walk at watergate bay, all so close it is silly not to visit before we rush back to normality. We cannot praise it's theraputic properties enough! We look forward to coming back!

Room Tip: Any view with a sea view

“Great location. Nice spa. Dodgy heating & a few lies from some of the staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights over the final w/e of jan 2012.
Room 121. Spacious and a great sea view. Bathroom a bit basic but overall good.
I booked through travel zoo and secured a free spa treatment for us. Very nice! Overall cost for 3 nights £263 for room incl breakfast.
Shortly after booking though I received 3 calls from hotel staff questioning whether I wished to cancel my stay due to a religious group taking over the hotel that w/e. I refused the offer & we arrived as planned.
The large religious group turned out to be a small religious group, a post office workers late Christmas party & a group of rugby supporters. (Obviously double booked by the hotel, but no need for lies.)
Overall stay was good with mainly attentive / good staff but spoilt a bit on the Saturday when the room was freezing cold due to frost outside.
Reception made what i thought was a poor excuse abut some guests complaining about it being too hot when another member of staff later confirmed that the hotel heating was a bit on the blink.
Overall a good hotel, terrific location but the truth is often the best and maintains overall integrity levels.

“Disappointing Breakfast”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Visited The Bay for breakfast as have eaten in the restaurant for Christmas before and loved the food so was completely shocked at what was served for breakfast!
The menu stated that the scrambled egg on toast was creamy yet light served on toast.... the reality of it was cold toast with NO butter and microwaved eggs that honestly tasted disgusting!
I felt really let down and having dined here before was very disappointed by the lack of 'love' and attention to the offering. There was no excuse as they were not busy.
I do have to add that the customer service from the barman, Ben was very good and in no way would I fault the service.
As a local to the town I will not bother returning here for breakfast in a hurry, in fact I would honestly say that the experience ruined my birthday treat from my sister in law!!

Dear Carby76, I am sorry you didn’t enjoy your breakfast this is not the normal feedback we receive regarding the quality of your food. I wish you had raised it to the staffs attention on the day as we wouldn’t have wanted this to spoil your special day.

“Fantastic spa break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My best friend and I enjoyed our now annual post Christmas spa break. We chose the Bay Hotel and Fistral Spa, Newquay this year. The break was a "Sunday Spa Special" and included:robes a slippers;use of the bar and lounge, swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna; 55 minutes of treatment in the beauty saon; dinner, bed(sea view as part of the deal) and breakfast - all for £90.00 each!!!
The treatment was amazing - I had a back, neck ad shoulder massage, followed by a mini express facial - bliss the treatment couch was heated(!) and the beauician was asolutely brilliant. The salon uses ESPA products and both before ad after our treatment, we lay on luxurious loungers in the relaxation room which had soft colour changing lighting, relaxing music, magazines and plenty of water to drink as well as dried fruits to nibble on.
The hotel room - fantastic views of the sea just across the small road.
Dinner - fabulous choices on the menu-was great.
Breakfast - excellent.
The staff in the hotel are realy helpful and friendly.
An amazing experience. We like to try somewhee different each year but... I definitely wat to go there again!!!

Room Tip: There are rooms with bay windows (and what a view)... and suites...
