“Great Value for money!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2009

After reading the reviews I was rather apprehensive about our stay, however I was pleasently surprised on our arrival.

The location of the Hotel was excellent. It overlooked wonderful views of the sea and was a small walk to the town centre, which held a range of dining experiences.
The Hotel had a large free carpark, which similar Hotel's did not- This saved us alot of money.

Although the room was small (especially the bathroom), it was everythin we needed. The room was cleaned everyday to a high standard and the staff were Excellent!!

Thanks for our enjoyable stay!

“Avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

Ah the Riviera .... memories of the Mediterranean and that is as far as it goes. The hotel is shabby, mean spirited and grubby. Take the bathroom: paint peeling off the ceiling, carpet in the main room stained with God knows what.

This is Newquay England when many people were taking a holiday at home for the first time in years.

The extract from the hotel "welcome" book says it all. John Cleese could not equal this.

“Due to Environmental Office regulations we cannot allow food to be brought into the hotel. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages may ONLY be consumed on the premises if purchased from the hotel. A corkage charge starting at £10 will be automatically charged to your room account if you choose to bring your own.

Breakfast: 8.30 – 9.30
Evening Dinner: 6.30 - 7.30"

The exception to all of this is the staff or at least the receptionist we met. She was charming and we felt sorry that she had to work in such a poor quality hotel. It is the kind of hotel that makes you despair; I hate to think what any foreign visitor would make of this place. This is rip-off Britain in action.

“Very Good Hotel Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2009

Stayed for three nights recenly and enjoyed most aspects of the stay. Would prefer the bar open more, even it you just had to ring a bell to get the receptionist to serve you and the car park is littered with a lot of rubbish. Good points were good price, clean if dated rooms, nice breakfast and good staff. And free broadband

“very good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

I read the reviews here after I had done my reservation (and payed for my room; you can't cancel a reservation here, which is very bad). I was disappointed and worried about hygien, as I'm pregnant and travelling with a 2 1/2 years old child. I was surprised and happy about what I found.
The hotel is in a wonderful position, in front of the sea, with a big grassy park running along the cliffs just cross the road. It is 10 minutes of pleasant walk from the center, and has a big car park. The room was huge, actually we had an entrance, 2 rooms (1 for the child) and a bathroom. Everything was nice and properly working, and acceptably clean (True, it could have been cleaner). But the room costed us 90£ (standard double; it was saturday; the price is 75 on week days, as found on priceline.co.uk.): I really didn't expect more for that price! No frills, good value!

1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

The entrance to hotel and the doors were as rough as they could get ,hoped for bettter inside foyer was clean and tidy office /reccepion was a bit like a junk room.lift not working no one could remember when it last worked stairs were serious and they were everywhere anyone with walking difficulties stay away not wheelchair friendly room I was shown was clean and tidy but the grass was growing about a quarter way up the window it restricted view of weed covered roof did get moved to an other room tv did not work infact no tvs in the place worked. After all that lets go and order a meal guess what resturant was not open for hotel guests but would open if you came on a couch tour, even though evening dinner is advertised from 6.30 to 7.30 there are no lesiure facilities the hotel was hard to see at night as there were no lights on.it was more like a cemetery and if you wanted a drink get it some where else as the bar may not be open to guests
