“Exceeded expectations, Would definately go again!”

The hotel was lovely! The staff were very polite, friendly and accomodating. The room was a small double room with a en suite shower, sink and toilet. The view from the window was of the spa roof and over looking the car park. Not really what I thought it meant by land view but I did book last minute and it was the last room available. The bed was comfortable and there was a freeview tv and tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
The health club joined to the hotel was included in the price of the room and consisted of a room with varous gym equipment and weights, an indoor swimming pool, spa, steam room and sauna. These facilities are unmanned through the day. Other facilities and treatments had a charge. We enjoyed lots of time in and out of the spa, swimming pool and sauna.
The Watermark brasserie was nice with stunning veiws over Porth beach and surrounding headlands. The breakfast was great and planty of choice. If you wanted something that wasn't on the menu then they would do there best to get that for you. The food and drinks were fantasic. For three courses with drinks it came to about £70. I don't feel this was bad considering the meal size and quality!
Free WIFI in the bar area.
When we arrived and checked in, the receptionist advised us that there were a few weddings happening at the hotel on Friday and Saturday and that the Brasserie would be closed to residents throughout all of Saturday. This meant that if you were planning on staying at the hotel all day jthat you wouldn't have access to the bar for drinks of coffees, although the hotel staff were able to bring drinks to your room at a small charge. This didn't cause us any inconvenience as we were spending most of the day in other parts of Cornwall or on the beach.
The hotel is literally on the edge of the headland and a short walk out of the door and down some steps, you are on the beach. This is only when the tide is right out though at around 1.30pm. A smaller beach (Lust Glaze) is close by with a restaurant, shop and they do sporting activies there.
Myself and my partner had a fantastic, romantic short 3 night stay at Glendorgal and would definatley go back again, I wouldn't recomend it as a very accomodating place for families with children.

“Fab service, great room, top location. If it were a bit cheaper it would be perfect!”

I stayed at the Glendorgal in August 2009 as a solo traveller and booked the room via Laterooms.com. I needed the room at the last minute as my other accommodation had let me down and given this situation I would have thought the room would have been offered at a slightly more reduced price. However, this is just about the only niggle I have with this otherwise fab hotel.

From start to finish, the reception staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and efficient; getting everything I asked of them spot on (which was quite a bit - taxi bookings, wake up calls, early breakfasts etc). The restaurant attached to the hotel, the Watermark, was very nice, offering excellent seaviews and tasty food.

The hotel's location was also perfect for someone like me who likes a bit of adventure, but also some peace and quiet - only 4 miles away from the airport, on the local bus route, and away from all the madness in the centre of Newquay. The hotel is perched on top of a hilltop overlooking Porth beach and only a very short walk away from Lusty Glaze beach.

The spa was ok, and although it had everything promised, I felt it was a little tired and could use some updating. I am not complaining however, as most of the time that I went to use it, I had the place to myself.

The room I stayed in was clean, had everything you would expect, including a comfortable bed and nice ensuite bathroom. The decor was fresh and contemporary and the hotel provides shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom.

Overall, I'd say the location is great, the staff cannot be faulted, and although I still think it was just a little bit pricey for what it is, I would definitely recommend the Glendorgal.

“Location and restaurant great rooms not so great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

Hotel is set on its own headland close to Lusty Glaze Beach with stunning views across the bays. Whilst the setting is fantastic the quality of accommodation was not so great. The rooms are small and described as rustic which in itself is not an issue but the room I stayed in was not up to a standard I would deem acceptable for £115 pr night. The walls were badly skuffed and the carpet filthy and bed was not of particulary good quality.
The firnishings were very cheap and bathroom not partcularly inspiring. There was a background smell of vomit which I suspect was imbedded in the stained carpet . I can live with sparce furtnishings and probably put up with shabby wall decorations but there really is no excuse for the state of the carpet. On a positive side, the staff were friendly and welcoming and very attentive in the restaurant where the food which mainly serves fish was exceptional. The restuaruant is located in a conservatory which has been extended from the main building and has stunning views of the coastline. The restaurant and location are the key selling points of this hotel and I would certainly return if it was not for the poor quality of accommodation. This property has the potential to shine if only the owners were to invest a little in the accommodation quality.

“Amazing location, lovely staff, relaxing stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2009

Glendorgal lies in the perfect location, close enough to newquay for a visit on that inevitable rainy day yet far enough away from the hordes of teenage binge drinkers in the centre of town. The surrounding beaches are beautiful and within walking distance or a quick drive through the crazy cornish side roads.

The service was impeccable, all of the staff were only to pleased to help with any requests or questions. They went out of their way to ensure that we got the most out of our short stay.

The room was spacious and clean with attractive and modern decor. Although our room did not specify sea views, we could still see the sea (just) and had nice views of the surrounding area.

The pooland spa facilities were outstanding and came as a suprise. They were far better than you would expect of a 3* hotel of this size. The gym allowed for a complete work out and even had a specific room for weight training. All of these facilities were free of charge and almost completely empty most of the time.

We will certainly be returning and will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

“Incredible wedding reception!”

Wow! Just WOW, and thank you to all at the Glendorgal. We couldn’t have asked for more from a reception venue. So patient, helpful and full of suggestions as we planned the event – but always relaxed and making sure it was going to be “our day”. Then on the day I think the best word to describe the team is simply “Professional”. The food was amazing, the service efficient, the flexibility as timings changed brilliant – even on the morning of the reception we had guests who’d stayed with you the night before complimenting us on the location and your restaurant! Are you getting the idea yet? In short, we’d recommend you!
