The hotel was lovely! The staff were very polite, friendly and accomodating. The room was a small double room with a en suite shower, sink and toilet. The view from the window was of the spa roof and over looking the car park. Not really what I thought it meant by land view but I did book last minute and it was the last room available. The bed was comfortable and there was a freeview tv and tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
The health club joined to the hotel was included in the price of the room and consisted of a room with varous gym equipment and weights, an indoor swimming pool, spa, steam room and sauna. These facilities are unmanned through the day. Other facilities and treatments had a charge. We enjoyed lots of time in and out of the spa, swimming pool and sauna.
The Watermark brasserie was nice with stunning veiws over Porth beach and surrounding headlands. The breakfast was great and planty of choice. If you wanted something that wasn't on the menu then they would do there best to get that for you. The food and drinks were fantasic. For three courses with drinks it came to about £70. I don't feel this was bad considering the meal size and quality!
Free WIFI in the bar area.
When we arrived and checked in, the receptionist advised us that there were a few weddings happening at the hotel on Friday and Saturday and that the Brasserie would be closed to residents throughout all of Saturday. This meant that if you were planning on staying at the hotel all day jthat you wouldn't have access to the bar for drinks of coffees, although the hotel staff were able to bring drinks to your room at a small charge. This didn't cause us any inconvenience as we were spending most of the day in other parts of Cornwall or on the beach.
The hotel is literally on the edge of the headland and a short walk out of the door and down some steps, you are on the beach. This is only when the tide is right out though at around 1.30pm. A smaller beach (Lust Glaze) is close by with a restaurant, shop and they do sporting activies there.
Myself and my partner had a fantastic, romantic short 3 night stay at Glendorgal and would definatley go back again, I wouldn't recomend it as a very accomodating place for families with children.
