“Glendorgal and its surrounding beauty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Even through the windy mist we could see what a beautiful spot this would be in good weather. We had no choice with our time of year but my sister did manage a great walk along the cliffs, the bridge, and the water below while being buffeted by the almost gale force winds.
The rooms were nice and clean and very sufficient. There were two negatives and it might have been the time of year where the main staff was off duty. The person at the desk was minimally helpful to say the least. One needs to know how to "sell" the area if they are going to work with vacationers. The waitress was friendly and delivered good service and knowledge of the area. We dined at the restaurant there twice and enjoyed it very much both times.
The second negative was due to the neighbors in the next door room which was occupied at 3:00 AM by very drunk and loud men who staggered loudly up the stairs and then shouted at each other for ages. That happened two nights in a row and we were ready to leave after that. The thin walls got a wearing.
I have one more comment to make on the internet service. We were told that it would be about 5 pounds to get wifi...That is outrageous in the year of 2012. Please modernise a bit.

Room Tip: Don't be aftraid to ask for a room with a view. They have them and we should have asked.

“Our Perfect Wedding!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We booked this hotel without visiting it ourselves, we live in London so just couldn't get down there ourselves. The location is amazing, its right on the cliffs and has a little path down to Porth Beach which we used on our wedding day for some photos. The reception room has the most amazing views of the coast and cliff line, its the best back drop for a coastal wedding. The hotel really know how to host weddings, they put many on each year so even my little melt down on the day about us running late with photos, Brock put me at ease as he knew the tide times and when the sun went down so that we would still be able to get the shots we wanted. The food the restaurant put on for us and our guests was faultless, we thoroughly enjoyed our wedding breakfast and if you are planning a wedding here, I highly reccomend the pasty evening buffet, our guests loved it!! Brock knows lots of local suppliers so if you aren't local to Newquay, he can give you a list to include cake makers, photographers etc to help you out. We couldn't have had a better day, the hotel and the staff at the Glendorgal made everything perfect, our guests have been telling us its the best wedding they have been to. So, for a wedding, this venue gets the biggest thumbs up from me and my new husband.

Room Tip: The rooms with sea views are above the main function rooms so if there is a wedding on, it may not b...

“very disappoinnting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

We stayed at the Glengorgal in mid November 2011 for a colleagues retiremennt function.
The positionn os excellent with great views of Porth beach but the receptionist was less than helpful and we wwere kept waiting for the room for 45 minutes despite the cleaner stating it was ready 5 minutes asfter our arrival. We had upgraded to a sea vie room but this was tired and in real need of a serious upgrade. We even found two of the electrical power points cracked and dangerous. The room was extremely overheated despite turning off all the heating. Obviously already known as there was fan left in the room but this was totally ineffective. The function was fine and we enjoyed the evening but on returning to the room it was like walking into oven it was midnight in Nov and we had to open the patio doors to cool down room. We could not leave these open alll night for safety reasons but got up a 6 am as it was too hot to rremain in the room ,having showered we left at 7am without waiting for the breakfast for which we hadd paid extra.
On checking out I mentioned the problem to the same receptionist to receive the following bored resonse ' I have only just come in'
I have telephoned sinnce to speak with the mmanager only to be told twice that I woulld receive a call back. Needless to say 1 month later I am still waiting.

I hotell I will never visit again or recommend in fact I would be concerned about the safety issues and it is overpriced

“Lovely Sea View; Nice Spa but Grumpy Receptionist!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Hotel has lovely sea views from the resturant and if you request it, you can have a room with a sea view.

The pool; sauna and spa bath area is nice and there is a small gym too.

Had a works do there and apart from the bar staff, the rest of the service wasnt great - very rude & grumpy receptionist and the breakfast lady cleared everything away at 9:01am when breakfast stopped at 9am and wasnt very accomodating when a collegaue came down at 9:05am, even though it was mid week and winter, so no one else in the restaurant!

Room Tip: Think you have to pay more for a sea view, but if you do, it is worth it!
