“More than adequate accommodation in a lovely location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights in the sea-view room with balcony and can highly reccommend it. The views overlooking Porth bay were phenomenal and the balcony was served by a large table and chairs.
The hotel staff, mainly the son of the proprietor were extremely helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble.
If we ever visited Newquay in the future we would not hesitate in booking this hotel again.

“wonderful location, friendly staff, like home from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2010

After an earlier stay this summer my wife and l decided to make THE WINDWARD HOTEL
the location to celebrate my Birthday with all my family. We knew they would just love this charming hotel, the owners provided a lovely buffet which just made the evening perfect.
Most of my family stayed over night so we could all relax in style and enjoy the extensive breakfast menue the next morning. The hotel proprieters really made it a special time for my family and l, we are already organizing our next stay in 2011.

“Fantastic views, hospitality, like home from home, highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

I am just about to book my next vacation at The Windward Hotel and logged into Trip Advisor to look at the reviews. I could not believe some of the comments of photos that guests or photos that guests have taken. Hows sad to go on vacation and take pictures of a kettle or lying on the bed taking a picture of the TV. Or worse still feeling the need to drink in your bedroom. What lonely people these must be and whilst even we have a drink in our room, it's usually when getting ready to go out and we still use the bar. As for objecting to paying corkage on your own bottles in the bar - do people take their own drinks to the pub or restaurant - I don't think so. I have also been there when other guests have helped themselves to glasses and buckets of ice, leaving none for paying customers in the bar. We have never been charged corkage on our own drinks in our room and I think that the people that made this comment totally misunderstood. I read comments on the decor - well I for one like it and am sorry to hear from Sue & Paul that it will be going - it took a young artist several months to complete. I have read comments about the CCTV, which is installed for security of people like us and I agree with the management response that if people find this offensive then they must have something to hide. Personally I find it reassuring in that both of us and our personal possessions are safe and that the proprietors take matters of security seriously. Overall, I took note of the positive reviews, which far outweigh the negative and have gone ahead with booking my 2nd 2-week stay . I for one, and my wife cannot fault this place. It is perfectly located, spotlessly clean. The food is good and the proprietors and staff are second to none.

“Too much emphasis on CCTV!”

We enjoyed the splendid view but had the feeling in the hotel that we were being watched all the time. The CCTV made us feel most unwelcome and uncomfortable. We were strongly encouraged to use the bar (I don't drink), but were advised that if we should borrow any glasses or ice for any alcohol that we had purchased elsewhere for consumption in our room, we would be seen and charged £5 corkage. I could perhaps understand this if we had been teenagers, but I'm in my seventies! The long list of dos and don'ts sent to us in advance of our stay contained warnings such as a fine of £100 for a lost key.

The breakfasts were nicely laid out and the beds were comfortable, but I would not choose to go back.

“Everything you need a stone's throw from Newquay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

We had a pleasurablesingle night stay with Paul and Sue who made us feel very welcome and provided a friendly, personal service. The room was clean and just about big enough as a double with storage, an ensuite and table and chairs. Breakfast is served in the lovely front facing conservatory which overlooks the bay. The spacious surroundings, great breakfast and chatting with the hosts made a an easy stay throughly enjoyable.
