“Daishes always go that extra mile.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

It makes me laugh when people attack hotels like Daishes. I have travelled with this group 6 0r 7 times now. Of course the hotels are not perfect and the food may not be to everyones taste. But if you want a clean, friendly decent hotel, with more than affordable prices then this is it. I love the food personally as it always tastes home made and fresh. Also what I love about Daishes is they will bend over backwards to help. If you have a problem with your room etc all you have to do is tell them about it. I came back from the Barrowfields yesterday and I would like to thank all involved for making it nother lovely holiday.

“How do they do it for the money?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2010

If you do not like this type of holiday, then you should stop in a bed and breakfast which will cost a lot more than travelling with daish's. We have been with Daish's on a number of occations, to their other hotels as well, and we find that the Barrowfields is by far the best value. So what did we get for our money? B'ham to Newquay and back 500 miles, 7 days stay (Mon to Sun). Full english breakfast with extras. three course evening meal with generous portions, Local english staff. The cleanest rooms. selection of coffee/tea etc in your room( our cups were small so they gave us a couple of larger ones) and the staff could not be faulted.
However you can't stop some people moaning BIG TIME! Like "I can't eat this soup there's too much tomatoes in it (tomato soup) and "How do they expect me to eat this? look at all that lettuce? (Salad) etc.
This cost a total of £388.00 for the two of us.
Work it out for yourselves........drive there and back £80.00......B/B/eve meal at a similar local hotel £476.00 (£238.00 ea) need I go on?
OK so our driver lost his tongue on the way down there, I think his name was Paul and he should have a good talking to because he is not that popular with the other drivers.......but so what, perhaps he has had enough of some of the moaners, like they say you can't pick your neighbours but on this holiday you can move to another table.
Enjoy Daish's the positives out number the negatives.

“I don't understand why people have complained about the Barrowfield Hotel”

Three family friends and myself took a holiday with Daish's in March 2010. This was our first time with Daish's, and as I had been quite poorly for the last year and we all needed a break, we decided to go to the Barrowfield as it had been recommended. My friend and I shared a twin room, and my sister and her sister-in-law had the next room to us (also a twin room) which we had requested. We had also asked for a walk in shower if possible, which we got. The rooms were absolutely spotless, and the shower room was brilliant. As for the Staff, everyone of them was so polite and pleasant. and nothing was too much trouble. The girl who served our table every day was lovely, and the food was well cooked and very tasty. We could not fault the hotel in any way at all, and we came home feeling that we had had a lovely break. Only one thing, the driver of our coach had nothing at all to say to the passengers ona very long journey, but he did say that he was new to the job, so maybe he will learn to take a tip from the Staff at the hotels.

We all went on a 5 day stay from west Yorkshire 4 adults and 1 child the food was so poor that David blunkett must of cooked it, the food was all made for the elderly who reasly couldn't care less to complain! ABSOUTELY NONE OF THE FOOD WAS FRESH the food was So poor and terrible and disgusting the soup was like wall paper paste with no seasoning the main courses was not even worth mentioning absoutely disgusting I'd you was stevie wonder then it wouldn't be so bad the coffee was powder coffee toast was allways burnt and allways cold the desert well on the 3rd night for example banoffee pie consists of digestive biscuit laughing gas cream out of a tin and a drizzle of choclate but the best is yet to come there like to rip you off bingo was an absolutely a con a a strip of 6 tickets cost £5 per game and you And only had one game so if you have 4 adults it's £20 pergame the noise outside the hotel was terrible sandy lodge shouting and swearing sleep is a no no no no no seagulls like to give you a wake up call at 5am till 8am and also the other keys fit each others doors the night porter we asked him for a morning call and was playing cards on the computer not paying attention instead we got a wake up call at 5am instead of 8 am really tired the next day no sorry or anything I could go on and on and the rooms were not upto scratch and the snooker room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a year cheese and biscuits all over and empty glass all over the place no security on the doors the only good point was the waiter Paul ledder he looked after us all week and did his best for our little one as there didn't have a Childrens menu and went out of his way to accomadate the food for her

I travelled with a group of friends, some blind, 1 in a wheelchair and 1 with special dietry requirments. We had a fabulous time the staff were excellent, the restaurant bent over backwards to help, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was warm, friendly and clean and the staff great. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone it is outstanding value for money and warrants more than 3 stars.
