All the reviews of this hotel are totally justified!!
Stayed here for one night and booked the night before on special rate of £85 per room B&B. Hotel is 2 or 3 semi detached houses. Our room was Chomondeley which is EXACTLY as it looks on the piccie and in the adjacent building. Our room was bright, clean, immaculately decorated and Teddy waiting on bed with welcome message from Laura, the manager. In addition there was a plate with 4 chocolates and a beautifully sliced strawberry standing on parade spreading corner to corner of the plate + some more strawberries.
Furnishings, linen and towels were really luxurious in feel and in plenty supply. Shower gel and lotion etc. from the White Company.
Bed Very comfortable, very peaceful despite being on a main road. Parking good.
We were offered fresh milk on arrival to make our own tea and when we advised we had our own Laura came back with a small flask to keep the milk fresh.
Laura was very helpful with local advice without being pushy. We ate out that night and saw some of Chester.
Booked over the phone as wanted to ask specifically about wheelchair access. Laura was great and called back to advise of one concern in bathroom of room we were using which was fine from what she described. However, upon arrival, we found two steps up to reception, ramp was immediately available for larger step but electric chair failed on smaller step without my own ramp from the car. There was a large step to the outer building too which they got the ramp for. My chair can get through standard doors, but the bathroom door was too narrow and only by the fact that the door could not open enough. As we had been shown to the room by Laura herself, it was arranged immediately after discussion of numerous options, that the door was removed. Problem sorted!! Way beyond expectations.
Breakfast is honestly one of THE BEST I've ever had. All fruit were freshly prepared. Tables in dining room divine. Service superb and breakfast menu excellent. Really good quality food.
Despite access being previously described on hotel's own website as being suitable for wheelchair users, I still can not fault the hotel as the problem was sorted and did not deter from our enjoyment of our stay. Feedback regarding access was taken on board and within 24 hrs of our stay I received an email from Laura advising of the removal of this from their website.
A permanent wheelchair user without an assistant would struggle at this hotel at present. The scope is there to make it much more accessible without too much investment which I really hope they do, as I would love to stay again.
