Our office had a function there yesterday (09/02/12). I could not have wished for anything better. There were 44 of our staff altogether and we had a 3 course meal. The food was excellent and good portion sizes. There was not one plate that had food left on it on all 3 courses. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble and they were very very well organised. I cannot praise them enough. I can highly recommend this hotel to you all.

unfortunately my experience was bad.. as 4 stars hotel I expected much more.. I would like to skip over things that are fine and absolutely normal from an hotel of this level and would like only to list things that I didn'y appreciated.
1) assuming that the hotel is not cheap, you have to add at your arrival: breakfast 15£, room internet connection (free in the lobby) and vallet parking.
2) rooms at 4th floor have a (nice) curved ceiling with the bad result that the curtains cannot in any case block all the light coming from outside.. if you like to sleep in total darkness it is a problem
3) air conditioning. VERY VERY VERY NOISY. You have to sleep with TV on or switch it off.. but that way in winter you'll freeze.. mine was even broken but they partially fixed it quickly.
4) breakfast.. as above.. for 15£..I want more..

Service is Kind, furniture is old but in good shape, clean and center located.

Stayed here on a number of occasions and while note cheap in comparison to other hotels in the area it's a nice hotel and easily accessible to all parts of Cambridge which is such a beautiful city. The rooms in the hotel are clean and certainly spacious. The bar is nice but perhaps a little open, just to the side of the Reception so the area in my mind is a meeting point but not a place to sit and have a few drinks really however if sitting having a coffee (they brew Starbucks) you can sit overlooking the exterior which is a nice feature. Would I return ?, most definately.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Cambridge on the 4th of February 2012. I booked over the phone and stated that I wanted to pay cash. They said this was fine. So we check in on the 3rd at around 5pm, upon checking in we had to give one of our cards, so my boyfriend gave his and we were told that this was because incase of damage etc and NO CHARGE will be put against the card. We then went to the room dropped of our stuff and then went out for dinner, while we were in town my boyfriend checked his balance as he was paying for the dinner. He noticed quite a lot of money was missing. Upon returning to the hotel i questioned this at reception and asked if they had taken anything out and they said no we were paying cash. So the next morning we checked out and paid £145 cash and recieved and invoice that stated £145. To my utter shock today my boyfriend called me and explained that he had been to the bank and that £195 had been taken from Crowne Plaza. I immediately called Crowne Plaza and asked them what was going on? I got put through to a manager and explained my complete dissapointment. She explained that when we give our card on checking in money does get taken out and gets put back after 5-7 days after checking out. How ridiculous. This not only wsn't explained, I then asked staff there. Crowne Plaza have took £340 of our money and it wasnt even a brilliant stay. I am currently persuing a complaint and will hear back in 48 hours. If not will take this further. My boyfriend is down £195 and at our age cannot afford that and now has to wait till the 10th of Febraury to get this back. It is horrendous. Do not stay here ever. They are consm and did not have our permission to take more money from us.
