we stayed in the four poster room with roof garden. the only downside was the hard mattress that both me and my partner found very uncomfortable. this however is the only fault. the pub, restaurant and food are all great.

What a lovely find! Just what you would hope an English pub to be. Log fires, cosy atmosphere & beautiful accommodation with great food. The staff & owners absolutely delightful & always on hand to have a chat & to help out. They even went out of their way to give us lifts to our course & picked us up. I strongly recommend the Hunters Rest Inn & I can't wait to stay there again soon.
Beautiful pub, the website doesn't do it justice! The room we stayed in was fantastic, much larger than we were expecting and excellent facilities. Food was also brilliant, both breakfast and a three course dinner were included in the stay and were delicious! Service was very friendly and of top quality, plus there is a large car park and amazing views. The pub/bar itself is huge yet cosy and welcoming, superb drinks of reasonable prices and open fires. We stayed for two nights in December and had the loveliest time, would recommend to anyone and would definitely return!
The title says it all really. Just come back from the hunters rest and it was a really great stay. We spent the Saturday in Bristol, not too impressed, but went to wells on the Sunday and would definitely recommend as it is only a 20 minute drive from the inn. The bar staff were really friendly and charged everything to the room. The meal was great and portions huge and the place is really popular and buzzing with locals. The room was a modern 4 poster, room 3, and was really warm and cosy. The bathroom was clean and modern and contained both bath and shower, which is a huge plus for us. The breakfast was really nice and there was lots of choice including vegetarian for my girlfriend. Will definitely recommend for a nice, quiet night in the country. The walks and outdoor activities looked really good so would check ahead and plan some of these not your stay.
Stayed here for one night in room 1 while working in Bristol. This realy is a wonderful, querky little country retreat, I loved my stay and was only dissapointed that I had to move on the next day. My room was a good size with onsuit bathroom ( but no shower which forced me to have nice warm bubble bath which I haven,t done for years ). Big double bed and flat screen TV (a little small maybe but not a problem). Although it states wifi in public areas I had good enough signal in my room which was an unexpected bonus.
Ate in the pub at night and the food was excellant. I had the Lamb roast dinner with plenty of meat, roast potatoes and a good selection of veg. Very nice and well worth the cost (£9) and the pub has a good selection of beers and wines.
Breakfast was the same quality as the dinner with good bacon and some excellant tasty sausage.
Altogether a very good place to stay with friendly staff and I will be taking a business card with me for future use.
You will have a nice time regardless of your reason for staying.
I look forward to coming back.
