“Amazing pub & accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

What a lovely find! Just what you would hope an English pub to be. Log fires, cosy atmosphere & beautiful accommodation with great food. The staff & owners absolutely delightful & always on hand to have a chat & to help out. They even went out of their way to give us lifts to our course & picked us up. I strongly recommend the Hunters Rest Inn & I can't wait to stay there again soon.

“Fantastic Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Beautiful pub, the website doesn't do it justice! The room we stayed in was fantastic, much larger than we were expecting and excellent facilities. Food was also brilliant, both breakfast and a three course dinner were included in the stay and were delicious! Service was very friendly and of top quality, plus there is a large car park and amazing views. The pub/bar itself is huge yet cosy and welcoming, superb drinks of reasonable prices and open fires. We stayed for two nights in December and had the loveliest time, would recommend to anyone and would definitely return!

“Lovely room and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The title says it all really. Just come back from the hunters rest and it was a really great stay. We spent the Saturday in Bristol, not too impressed, but went to wells on the Sunday and would definitely recommend as it is only a 20 minute drive from the inn. The bar staff were really friendly and charged everything to the room. The meal was great and portions huge and the place is really popular and buzzing with locals. The room was a modern 4 poster, room 3, and was really warm and cosy. The bathroom was clean and modern and contained both bath and shower, which is a huge plus for us. The breakfast was really nice and there was lots of choice including vegetarian for my girlfriend. Will definitely recommend for a nice, quiet night in the country. The walks and outdoor activities looked really good so would check ahead and plan some of these not your stay.

“wonderful country retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Stayed here for one night in room 1 while working in Bristol. This realy is a wonderful, querky little country retreat, I loved my stay and was only dissapointed that I had to move on the next day. My room was a good size with onsuit bathroom ( but no shower which forced me to have nice warm bubble bath which I haven,t done for years ). Big double bed and flat screen TV (a little small maybe but not a problem). Although it states wifi in public areas I had good enough signal in my room which was an unexpected bonus.
Ate in the pub at night and the food was excellant. I had the Lamb roast dinner with plenty of meat, roast potatoes and a good selection of veg. Very nice and well worth the cost (£9) and the pub has a good selection of beers and wines.
Breakfast was the same quality as the dinner with good bacon and some excellant tasty sausage.
Altogether a very good place to stay with friendly staff and I will be taking a business card with me for future use.
You will have a nice time regardless of your reason for staying.
I look forward to coming back.

Room Tip: Room 1 has a good 2 bars of wifi signal. I also recommend the roast dinners for value and taste. Dont worry about the lack of shower, its a nice bathroom.

“very cosy and great atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Booked a 3 night stay for a romantic weekend away. GREAT location- the actually pub is down a windey country lane (feels like your in the middle of nowhere surrounded by country fields- but in reality only 20mins from Bristol city centre and 40-60mins from Bath- was perfect. (would recommend using sat nav to find the place though especially if finding it in the dark). The pub if full of lovely charm and with big roaring fireplaces and low beams and old features- great pub grub- nothing fancy just good food and plenty of choice. only has 5 rooms but we were lucky and went on a quiet weekend so manged to get out room upgraded to a contemporaty 4 poster- very good value for money- had a lovely big bathroom, nice deep bath, walk in shower and his/her sinks. Great contemporary look with Tv but had low windows with great views over the country. The staff were so friendly and helpful and breakfast was limited in choice but adequate for the size of the place and very YUMMY. overall great stay perfect couples retreat
