“What a GEM ! A Fantastic find.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

I stayed here the night before a job interview in Bristol last month, and have since been back to stay twice more! Liz and all her family are really lovely, welcoming and helpful people. Upon arrival I was greeted, shown to my room and offered a drink whilst I filled out a form with my breakfast preferences for the next morning. I have stayed in both a single and a double room (both of which had en-suits), lovely and clean rooms with fresh crisp bedding and incredibly comfortable beds. Great nights sleep! The rooms also had a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, space to hang clothes up and upon request the use of hair dyers iron & ironing board etc. I had a dilemma in the evening, as I had forgotten to photocopy my documents for my interview the following morning, before I arrived ; Liz very kindly did this for me at next to no charge and I was most grateful. Breakfast the next morning was a real treat, I had poached eggs on toast, from the hens in the garden and you can tell how fresh they are, fantastic! I had no trouble parking, even when I came back late one evening, there was a space on the road outside, and no problems at all. Overall a superb stay for any occasion, great location, lovely people and a very reasonable price! I can not wait to stay again !!!

“Everything I needed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I was due to start a job in the area but my accomodation wasn't ready in time. As a result, I had to find temporary accomodation at the last minute.

I rang Liz and she was very helpful, giving me a room with less than 24 hours notice. Liz also offered a deal so that I didn't have the double room through the week and I could downgrade to a single when that became available.

Having placed my breakfast preference on arrival, I had several brilliant full English Breakfasts to help me through my first week at work. When I arrived for breakfast, I was greeted and introduced to other guests. Liz and Brian were always making sure I, and other guests, had everything we needed.

Check their webite for rates but this was one of the cheapest B&Bs I could find, and the quality of the rooms is better than what my current accomodation is like!

The rooms had en-suite, desks, comfy beds, coffee/tea facilities, TV and free Wi-Fi. The bathrooms were very clean and modern too.

Excellent place to stay. The links to Bristol City Centre are good too, just get the bus nearby.

Highlight was singing Happy Birthday to Liz during breakfast with 7 other guests, including a german engineer visiting Airbus who sang a special birthday song in German!

Room Tip: Both single and Double rooms are of excellent quality! I have stayed in both.

“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I stayed at the Amberley on a Wednesday evening as I was due to have a job interview on the Thursday morning. I arrived and parked easily on the front parking and was greeted by Liz who introduced herself and asked if I was OK if she let the dog through. The dog was lovely and also made me welcome! The Amberley is a lovely, clean welcoming place, the room I had was a double (the singles were already booked) with ensuite. It was beautifully appointed and the ensuite immaculately clean. Liz showed me my room and brought me a drink. I hadn't eaten since breakfast and asked about local places to get something to eat. Liz offered to heat up something if I wanted to get a ready meal from the Tesco Express, or if I wanted to bring back a takeaway, she would provide the plate and cutlery for me to eat it with.

My room was extremely comfortable, warm and spacious and I had everything I needed. I chose what I wanted for breakfast using a pre-printed card. The choice was great from full english, scrambled egg on toast etc and cereals, fruit juices and the like.

The following moring I went down to the dining room. This is laid out with everyone sharing a large table. Liz immediately appeared and asked about tea/coffee etc and introduced me to each other resident in turn, this broke down some initial barriers and helped us to talk to each other over breakfast. I now know a little more about green energy heating installation thanks to Peter and Tim! Being able to chat to someone over breakfast stopped me from worrying too much about my job interview as well. A bonus.
Breakfast was spot on, well cooked, excellently presented and delicious.

Thanks you to Liz for providing such a lovely welcome, a comfortable, relaxing place to stay and a gorgeous breakfast. It couldn't be bettered.

We’re delighted to read you were happy here at Amberley; it can be a bit daunting travelling solo, so we do try and make sure everyone feels welcome and relaxed when meeting other guests over breakfast. Thank you for your review. Liz and Brian.

“Great place for a good night's sleep and breakfast in the morning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

We stayed a Saturday night so that we could visit family locally. The friendly greeting and cup of tea on arrival was very welcome, the bed comfortable, the hints on where to dine good and the free wifi useful. But what made the place excellent was the breakfast - exactly what we asked for, and a bit more, with really fresh ingredients cooked perfectly! Thank you Liz, for another great stay. (I have stayed there during the week in the past while on business.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are quieter, but smaller. Book ahead and talk to Liz about what would suit you best...
