We stayed here for one long night with family. We had two family rooms, the 'penthouse' and a single room. The whole place could do with a major update (the single room in particular was dire) but to be fair seemed very clean. Upon arrival we were told that there was a party that night, we were not informed of this on booking, apparently we should have been. Our booking was not made until 4 weeks before, so we should have been informed as far as I am concerned. Our room, unfortunately, was above the function room. We could hear everything that was going on at the function, which included a disco. To be fair this was not a rowdy crowd - think it was a 60th birthday - but when you go away for a relaxing weekend away (with children) you do expect to be able to get some sleep before 1am!! There is a bar - but this in in the function room where the private party is going on - very uncomfortable. The function finished at midnight - and then the moving around of furniture downstairs continued for the next hour - heard all the staff say their goodbyes in the carpark outside the bedroom window and heard them return the next day at 8am. Was not impressed. However, if you are lucky enough to have booked the penthouse it would not be too bad - just a dull rumble. However, the plus points, clean rooms, a large good breakfast (not including the mouldy toast) and the staff were very friendly. Would I return? No. Not unless I was actually attending a funtion there myself, and didn't want to sleep until the function ended. Can't actually believe that these rooms are let to anyone not attending a function here.
