We stayed at Rangeworthy for our niece's wedding. Based upon some of the other reviews we had a bit of trepidation since we are North Americans who travel extensively and normally stay at 4 & 5 star hotels. Our first impressions were not particularly favorable, but in fact everything associated with the wedding went very well indeed. In addition the room, though a bit quirky, was very comfortable and quiet and the breakfast the next morning was excellent - no tinned tomatoes as others have mentioned!

However the reason for the review title occurred immediately after we checked out. My wife and I went to look at the adjacent Rangeworthy church and while walking back to the hotel on a public road my wife was severely bitten by a dog from a neighboring farm. The farmer's wife saw this happen but promptly went inside. Only after shouting did the farmer emerge, but he showed not the slightest concern, nor did he offer any assistance. We went back to the hotel to ask where we could go to have the wounds dressed, and Dawn England the proprietor immediately cleaned up the bites as best she could. Then Bob, her husband, drove us about 5 miles to the NHS clinic in Yate, waited for us for 30 minutes while the clinic did a superb, and free, treatment and then drove us back to Rangeworthy where we had lunch scheduled. This was a level of assistance which went far beyond anything we had any reason to expect and we are very grateful to Dawn and Bob for their help. For this, even if the wedding and stay had not been so pleasant, we would recommend Rangeworthy Court to anyone planning to stay in the Bristol area.

What a great find
Booked with a couple of days spare in an area i am not familiar with. But every so often you drop on a diamond like Rangeworthy court.
clean good size room and very fresh linen, welcoming, great homecooked food, lovely setting.

The pictures of the Rangeworthy Court Hotel looked quite promising, however on arrival, things were a little different. The main door to the reception was looked and i was barked at by a large dog until someone arrived to let me in. Even though my booking was done by an external booker, and i had printed confirmation, the hotel had no record of my booking at all. Fortunately they weren't very busy. My room had 2 radiators in it, neither of which seemed to work, despite the fact that i had them both switched on full. Due to the fact that this is an old building, the windows rattled and let in drafts, so although it was May, it was freezing cold. I decided to have a shower to try and warm up, however, after leaving the water to run for 20 minutes i still didn't have warm water, let alone hot!!!
As a non meat eater, this hotel had virtually nothing to offer me to eat, and so i had to drive to Cribbs Causeway in Bristol in an attempt to find some food. As a woman staying alone, the option of sitting in a pub for dinner was not one that appealed. Fortunately i know my way around parts of the Bristol area, and knew that Cribbs would have something to offer me. However, if you are unfamiliar with the area, then you'd be in for a tougher time. I was also told that the hotel had free internet, however, whenever i tried to connect to it it told me the line was busy! Next time i need a hotel near to the M4, i won't be using this one.

Myself and my husband really enjoyed our stay it was so peaceful and really clean, the food was great my husband was glad to see tin tomatoes instead of a grilled tomaoto as any where we stay before didn't provide this on there breakfast.
The staff where really helpful and could'nt do enough for us, especially as we didin't know the area they advised us on places to go and how to get there.
The grounds around the hotel were beautiful it was just a shame the weather wasn't better so we could enjoy sitting in the hot tub!!!!!
It was a fantastic place to stay when you would like some alone time with your partner.
As for the review where the person said the man with the tattoos sat on reception that was my husband and he was doing business things on his laptop as the hotel provided wi-fi free of charge which ment that we didin't have to find somewhere to do our work. I don't think this person realised that the hotel was open to other guests not just there party. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice friendly atmosphere and value for money.
