Whenever we visit Bristol we have stayed in the Hotel du Vin for the past 10 years or so. but that place isn't what it used to be and so we jumped ship this time and stayed at 38 Clifton - and what a nice place it is - easy to find, fairly easy to park and plenty of good restaurants nearby - oh, and very helpful and friendly staff.
Now owned by the Dorian-Smith dynasty of Tresco fame and somewhat reminiscent of one of those small hotels that you find in St Germain - very smart, somewhat chic and an excellent breakfast.
This place is very good - we will visit again.
