I stayed here for one night. Work paid as I had a business event at the hotel the next day.
Appearance:
Very grand, impressive (especially to foreign visitors I would imagine)
Staff:
Very attentive and helpful
Dinner:
Lovely menu, gorgeous Sea Bream, could have dined cheaper, and just as well elsewhere
Breakfast:
Lots to choose from, but the mushrooms and tomatoes were barely warm and the bacon and sausage were cheap - very, very overpriced
Bar:
Nice ambience, pricey, great staff
Room:
Big, clean, comfortable
Price:
Fortunately I wasn't paying. £155 for the room. Breakfast was extra and to make matters worse, WiFi was an extra £15 a day!!! Disgraceful these days.
All in all, if you're out to impress a client or relative and cost isn't an option, this will fit the bill perfectly. However, I prefer somewhere that's better value for money. I stayed at the Brooks Guesthouse the following day - the rooms were smaller, but clean and very modern, the lounge area was well appointed with FREE WiFi but best of all, the breakfast was amazing and cooked to order with organic, quality produce. I know where I'll be booking on my next trip to Bristol, even if work are paying again!
