“Perfect location, good value for money, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I had not prevusly visited Bristol, so i was not sure where to stay. I was supposed to go to a conference in the Watershed conference centre, so College Green looked pretty close. I arrived late but found the Hotel quite fast. Parked my rental in the Garage and checked in. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I got a room very close to the Lobby and restaurant. The Gym was relatively well equipped and the best of all was the Pool. Almost like a Roman Bath. Brekfast was also nice, but way too expensive. Next time i'll bundle it with my room rate ( so i won't see it and get upset). When i checked out i made an error that the staff at the front desk corrected quickly. I tried to pay my parking fee in the machine. 105 GBP!!!! I ended up paying just 25 GBP.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Lobby floor was nice (start with 8xx)

“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

The hotel has an excellent location with the modernised Waterfront area and Park Street near by offering shopping and restaurants. There is also an aquarium and hands on science centre with planetarium to keep the children happy literally on the doorstep. The rooms are decently sized and furnished, and there is a good spa, gym and swimming pool. There is parking within the hotel which is a bonus but I note that the Marriott has recently started charging residents for parking which is a bit off really. The restaurants are decent but expensive with the exception of afternoon tea which is not bad value. Unlike other reviews we cannot recommend the bar as the night we tried it the bartender didn't seem to know his cocktails and we were overcharged. If you can get a good rate, such as their winter specials, then its superb value.

“Bed in need of a new mattress”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We had a lovely weekend in Bristol, staying at College Green Marriott, well located in the middle of town with easy access to bars, shops and restaurants.

This is a very nice hotel with lots of character, a good spa pool, friendly staff etc.

The only let down, having paid extra for an upgrade to a superior room, was a mattress that must have been >10 years old with absolutely no support. For a hotel of this nature and given it was labelled 'superior' it is below par to have a bad nights sleep on a really bad mattress.

Please fix so others don't wake up with an equally bad back.

“Delightful hotel and great cocktails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We only stayed one night but were impressed with the quality and high standards maintained throughout this beautiful Victorian hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the rooms were clean and nicely furnished. We would urge anyone to try at least one cocktail in the bar; the drinks are original and extremely tasty! Some are even made from fresh ingredients on the premises. We will definitely visit again.

“Great New Year's dinner&party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We booked a table for the New Year's eve black tie party, and we were impressed with the general elegance of the hotel and party itself. The food was amazing, four courses which were delivered timely and the staff were very attentive to our requests. After the party we moved to the hotel bar, where we enjoyed another few drinks in the beautiful Drawing Room. All in all, a very tasty and tasteful evening! Would go back anytime, hopefully to get a room as well.
