“Traditional Holiday Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Like stepping back in time really to a typical "business" hotel of 20 years ago. Very friendly staff at reception, in the bar and in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Reasonable standard of food, although £4.51 for a pint of Stella is pushing it somewhat for anywhere, never mind on the outskirts of Bristol

Otherwise, the room was quiet, clean, pleasant without being exceptional. Check-out was efficient and I was asked to rate the hotel out of ten by the Receptionist, who also asked me what they could do to improve my stay - made a change from the normal in-room postcard telling me my feedback is important.

“Holiday Inn - like all the others”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Quick check in, room not large but had a comfortable bed and enoguh space for one. Breakfast a little hectic - there was a school party in at the same time - but nothing ran out and there was no queue to get in, both of which suggest a well organised set up. Good value. Not really close to anything, but fine if you're travelling by car as it's quite easy to find.

“Good value and convenient for business”

I have stayed on business at the Holiday Inn, Filton several times recently. It is within easy walking distance of the Bristol Business Park. The hotel is very clean and efficient with fast check-in. Rooms are generally spacious, very clean and functional. The bar area is very busy but provides attentive service, although drinks prices are quite high! Breakfast is a good spread with fresh fruits, continental style as well as fresh pastries and the usual English. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Will certainly be staying here again when next on business in the Bristol area.

“Surprising”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Normally I would not choose Holiday Inn, I have preferred Premier Inn in the past, when staying on business. The Filton Holiday Inn was booked for me by a colleague. The room was very clean and comfortable. The surprise was that the standard of the restaurant food was excellent. The restaurant serves Chinese food, the menu is comprehensive and is of an excellent standard. I found all of the members of staff to be efficient and very professional. I plan to stay again.

“Enjoyable stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Our second stay here for a family weekend and we had a good time.

Bit puzzled though, as to why the light spacious restaurant was closed in the evenings and we had to eat in the Sampans restaurant. This was small, dimly lit, crowded and noisy, not at all what I was hoping for had we been in the restaurant. The following evening when all 8 of us were there it was slightly less crowded but we must have made it rather noisy for the other diners in the small enclosed space. Even more surprisingly breakfast was served in the main restaurant!

The food was good, but at breakfast on both mornings we were served cold coffee and had to ask for replacement hot cups, we'd booked a family room for my daughter and two children, but had to ask for sheets etc for childrens' beds, surely they should have known they were needed? Also there was a mistake in the bill as the childrens' meals should have been free of charge and In our room the radiator whooshed and gurgled, fortunately not all night.

I don't want this to seem too negative because overall it was good enough, but I can't help feeling that there were perhaps a few too many little niggles.

Room Tip: If you can afford an upgrade ask for room 406, the biggest in the hotel!

Thank you for your feedback. In relation to the restaurant being closed, January is a quiet period for us, and due to the number of guest's staying that night, we decided to close Junction restaurant and serve both menus from Sampans Restaurant to try and create a nicer atmosphere for our guest's. Although from your feedback I can see on this occasion it didn't work and we have taken your comments on board.
The sheets for the sofa bed should have been in your room prior to your arrival, please accept my apologies that they were not ready for you. I have passed your comments onto the Housekeeping Manager.
Once again, thank you for leaving constructive feedback, from which we can work on to improve our guest satisfaction within the hotel. I do hope you will visit us again to see the issue's rectified on your next stay.
