My wife and I stayed on Valentine's night so I could attend a course in Bristol the following morning. We asked for a quiet room and were given a lovely large bedroom at the back of the property.
The pub was easy enough to find - only a short drive outside of the city. It suited my purposes, though I had a car to get around it in - I don't know about the alternatives there.
We enjoyed a couple of pints of Cornish "Doom Bar" ale - I've had it before but it tasted superior at the Angel - and some fabulous pan roasted lamb steaks. The chef explained enthusiastically beforehand how they were to be cooked and didn't disappoint. He's obviously a young man who is passionate about cooking and delights in delivering tasty and satisfying meals to his customers. I hope he soon gets the reputation he deserves.
We slept well and the breakfast was fine - nice to get a range of priced alternatives. My wife was able to stay all morning while I was out. The staff made up a nice fire in the bar, especially for her, and provided her with plenty of coffee while she worked on her laptop.
On collecting her, the temptation of another pint of Doom Bar was almost too great but with a long drive up the M5 and a further half-day's work ahead of me I somehow managed to resist.
We may have reason to revisit Bristol, in which case the Angel will definitely be seeing us again - as long as they have room for us.

Stayed here for one night. Arrived about 7.30pm and made to feel very welcome. We wanted an independent village pub with real ale and accomodation and the Angel was exactly what we were looking for. Its a great village pub, great location, with great food and drink. The room was very spacious, with TV, Trouser press, bottled water and different types of coffee and tea. The room and pub were very clean, tidy and comfortable. We were the only ones staying there so had the choice of what time we had breakfast so we could have a lovely lie in. Breakfast is charged seperately which we did and again we were very impressed. Will definately consider staying there again in the future.

"The rooms are clean and of a decent size. If you are a tired traveller and you are looking for a good night sleep, watch out for the room you are given! Our room had a partition door to another room and it was impossible to sleep ..The walls were so thin that you could hear our neighbour eating crisps and his tv watching kept us awake until the early hours in the morning! Very noisey and quite irritating if you just want some peace and quiet.

If you like old inns, you will love this place.
The building dates back to 1475. Obviously listed, and it has not been butchered !
The place is quite amazing, its has character to beat all others. The walls, ceilings, corridors, stairs, rooms and floors are all crooked, its totally fabulous. It is like stepping back in time, I fell in love with the Inn after just 5 minutes.
Then I tasted the beer, wow ! the real ale is perfect. And now let me mention the food, it is cooked by a young genius called Moe, my starter and main course were perfect. Moe pays attention to detail, the small items on your dinner plate that are often not bothered with are cooked perfectly. My tomatoe, mushrooms, onion rings, all cooked along with my steak just perfectly, and all served at the same temperature !
Well done to Moe and all the staff for serving perfect beer and food.
The locals all seem very nice and pleasantly inteligent.
My room was very good, great pictures on the wall, great shower, nice furniture, I cannot say a bad word about The Angel Inn.
I cannot wait to return and step back in time again, this Inn is just wonderful, you really must try it.
