“Really bad experience”

"Luxury accommodation" with "excellent rates".Absolutely not! My cabin was dirty with bugs both dead and alive, and had chipped kitchen dishes, a broken bedroom window blind. And there were no amenities offered.
"Harmonious with nature"/"peaceful"/"tranquil"/"relaxing" ???? Hours/days with the sound of chainsawing, and the smell of burning garden waste - with allergies very concerning. Unfortunately maintenance of property seems more important than guest comfort. And a VERY POOR response by owner to concerns.

So terribly sorry for the bad experience of this reviewer. We do schedule property maintenance when our occupancy is low. We did have an excavator in to clear some shrubs in October when the ground was still dry from summer weather. Next time please state your concerns to us as soon as they arise and we can move you to a more peaceful location. As for those darn bugs....that is country living! No excuses for the chipped dishes or the broken blind but thank you for bringing them to our attention so we can replace them. Thank you.

“Super place Great Service”

We were at the Lodge for a fall wedding and stayed in Cabin #5 , It was great . The Owners and Staff made every effort to make the wedding and guests enjoy the event and the Lodge and they met their goal . The food was wonderful and the site and view was what you expect of a BC cabin resort , it was all world class and will fly across the country to visit again...Cabins are not all the same so check their web. site and contact them to get the proper match, Jeff , Megg. and Staff will bend over to make your visit one they would expect if they were the guests . Not a Luxury Hotel but the Best Cabin Resort we have been to ! If i must have a complait, the only one i can come up with is the WiFi signal was alittle weak. oh well !

“Bad experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

We stayed in cabin 14 for a wedding we were attending. The cabin had a dead mouse in the back of the stove so the stench in our cabin was terrible. Even after they removed the mouse the horrible smell did not go away. We figured there must have been more dead critters in the cabin. There wasn't any room service for the 3 days we stayed there. We payed close to $200.00 a night for this cabin. We are experienced travelers and were very disappointed with the Sea Breeze. We emailed them to ask for a discount of 1 day. The tone of their email was extremely rude advising us that they would not reimburse us one cent.
Give this place a pass, there are much nicer places to go in this world.

Sorry to these guests also. Had we had another cottage available we would've moved these guests. My husband did work very hard at finding and dealing with the offensive smell. Unfortunately we do share the land with other critters - mice included. A reduced rate certainly could have been negotiated at the front desk upon departure but these guests paid in full and then requested a credit in an email as an afterthought ............ Sorry again and thanks for reading.....

“Excellent location, great decks, a bit pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Even though the facility was half empty when we stayed there, we were put in a cabin with an adjoining wall to other visitors. So if we wanted to take the shortest (driest!) route to the car, beach, or hot tub, we had to pass in front of their window and deck chairs. Instead we took the longer route around the back of the cabin. That arrangement, when so many cabins were empty, felt like housekeeping efficiency was valued more than guest comfort. The bed was soft with a distinct dip in the centre and the pillows were soft and old. For $130 a night ($147 with tax) that seemed expensive. It was glorious being woken in the morning by the sound of eagles calling and the beach was lovely, even if it was a bit littered the time we were there. WIFI was intermittent at best.

“Amazing location and comfortable accomodation”

We just returned from our first trip to Hornby Island. We stayed 3 nights at the Sea Breeze in cabin #9. Friends of ours rented all the cabins for their wedding. The weather was very good for the time of year and the setting for the wedding was breath taking. From the grounds and restaurant we saw eagles, herons, porpoises, sea otters and seal in the bay. Cabin #9 sleeps 6 in 2 bedrooms and has a full kitchen and wood burning fire place. This cabin seems to have been renovated recently and was the envy of other wedding guests.

  • Liked — the friendly staff and great location
  • Disliked — not a lot of ammenities on the island, most businesses close at 3pm.
