This is a huge story thanks to owner art patron and gambler David Walsh.Lets hope the winnings keeps coming as there are still bills to pay.A new winery and the huge museum (MONA opens Jan 2011) The accommodation name seems to be changing to MONA pavilions too.The present drive approach is poor but that will change.
To understand this place you need to use their web site.
Our "old" pavilion, nearly over the river Derwent was spectacular,in so many designer ways. However for the record the pillows were over stuffed and the bed cover too thick. They also have a LOT of glass and tricky blinds to pull without standing on a chair!
The pav kitchen was so large the cleaning staff do miss things.Dirty dishwasher, missing cereal bowls, dish cloth and dish towel were not replaced.
At the fab pool the shower hair products had run out and cloths storage was poor.
At this time dinner is only offered to guests two nights a week, yet huge functions are catered for all the time it seems. There was no night time turn down/refresh service.
The golf buggy used to take you from the car park was quite a frightening experience on the narrow path. Its a pity the towels were Indian made and not Australian.
Now the great bits,EVERYTHING really.
Architecture, art, food, wine and beer, pool, views, just the little luxuries of life.
Did I mention the in room ART collection, and temperature controlled wine store,in the kitchen,or the hand control for lights, entertainment and door security view.Or the outdoor event stage, huge room service menu, but only when the restaurant is open. The wine and beer tastings........
