“perfect b-and-b experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2010

We had stayed at this beautiful old home several years ago and loved it. If anything, new owners Tom and Dorothy have improved the experience. They are warm, informal and welcoming. Since they are Thunder Bay natives who have returned to the city, they are a wealth of information about what to do and where to go in the area.
The home itself is a roomy, gracious old home on a large lot beside a creek, with a lovely garden. The breakfasts are healthy and delicious.
This would be a great B and B anywhere, and is a real find in Thunder ay.

“gorgeous old house, friendly hosts, downtown!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

Tom and Dorothy have a lovely old mansion and were very gracious to us. on the first morn they barely batted an eye over our request for a very early breakfast as we were heading off for an early morning kayak with a local group on lake superior. nonetheless, they produced a gourmet brekky. they also assisted with restaurant selection later. we are for the next town, we spent some hours relaxing in the wood panelled big old living room and later, with a glass of wine on the covered verandah in the afternoon sun, and then, a soak in the large tub and walk around the yard and to mcvicar creek. we had the smallest and cheapest room and the can was down the hall but it was private and sparkling/. their nice old dog stays out of the rooms/sleeping area.

“Memorable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We stayed at this bed and breakfast in the fall of 2009. Our hostess Louise was exceptional, from greeting us at the front door to tucking a couple of freshly baked breakfast muffins into our bag (a snack for the road!) as we left. We were very impressed with her hospitality and professionalism.

The Manor Room was wonderful, with beautiful linens and fresh roses, and a nice selection of books and music in the 'turret'. The large jacuzzi tub in the en-suite bathroom was an unexpectedly luxurious treat.

Breakfast (service and food quality) was excellent, and there were a number of guests seated at the large table. We stayed much longer at the table than we had intended due to the interesting conversation that arose among the guests.

A great place to stay. Elegant, yet not too starched. Very welcoming.

“Absolutely stunning!”

Spent Valentine's Night here with my husband. The hostess, Dorothy, was very welcoming and friendly. Took us on a tour of the house right away and then gave us our privacy. We stayed in the Manor room which was simply beautiful. The jacuzzi tub in our private ensuite bathroom was so relaxing, and the little attention to detail in all aspects of the decor was much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and Dorothy was a friendly conversationalist. We were sorry to go but hope to be back soon! A truly elegant, classy, comfortable stay.

“A Memorable Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

Dorothy, Tom, and Louise did a fabulous job of making our five night stay in Thunder Bay a memorable one.

The century-old manor oozes with charm and character and it is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It would be easy to get a little too comfortable here and not get out and see the sights in and around Thunder Bay. I would be remiss in not mentioning how good their breakfasts were -- easily the most creative I have ever had at a B&B.

The only thing that detracted from a perfect stay was the bathtub/shower (we stayed in the McVicar Room), which was difficult to get in and out of. This would be a real issue for someone with limited mobility. We also found the walk into the center Port Arthur a bit far (around 1km) for our liking. The Little Pearl B&B is better situated to the center.
