“Good for the Airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

This hotel is just a short shuttle ride from the airport, if they are not there to pick you up use curtacy phone and they will arrive very quickly. The hotel is clean with attentive staff, and the rooms are OK. I ate in the bar and agian the food was OK but nothing speacial, the staff seemes very busy so there was a wait to get a drink each time.

“Close to Airport, Has what you need”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

This hotel is right near the airport, which is great. There is nothing fancy about this hotel, and as the previous reviewer stated, it is no longer the premium hotel in TBay. The room is spacious and has what you need. It is definitely business geared, so if you are there on business, you should be well cared for.
My colleague and I dined in the restaurant one evening. She has nut allergies and doesn't eat a lot of red meat. She had a hard time finding something on the dinner menu that she could order that was both nut-free and not red meat. The waiter ended up dumping my side order of green beans on my colleague, staining her clothing and making quite a mess. The poor waiter was very apologetic, it was a mistake after all. The restaurant comped both of our meals and offered my colleague free dry cleaning for her clothing. I am pretty glad the meal was free, as it wasn't really great anyway.
I will stay here again because there are many conferences at this hotel that I will be attending, but if i were traveling for pleasure, I'd probably look for somewhere comparable in amenities, but less expensive for this quality of a hotel.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms (business) have patio doors out to the parking lot or to the courtyard. Large an...

“Average stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Years ago this hotel was considered the best in Thunder Bay, today no more. It was clean and it was quiet and the bed was comfortable enough, however there was very little to make it stand out for us. The room was rather austere, very little attention paid to making it attractive. The shower was not very hot and had not very good pressure. We ate breakfast in the restaurant only once, the best comment I can make about that was that it was average. Service was pretty good. We will look for somewhere else next time we are in Thunder Bay, maybe the Victoria or one of the new Comfort Inns.

“OK but would consider other hotels”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Problems at check in, one elevator out of service. Stayed in a renovated room (extra charge) told the unrenovated rooms are tired and old. Waited 20 minutes for breakfast to come out. Stayed serveral nights after first night - notice the airport noise, buzzing and truck noise at times. Hotel seems a bit tired and worn out.

Room Tip: Ask for renovated room but may have to pay extra.

“Vallhalla Inn Thunder Bay Ontario”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

The Vallhalla lobby looks very nice. The elevator had garbage on the floor. We were on the 5th floor, supposedly the "best" as there were no vacant rooms on the other floors. Price $165. Halls were very dirty....room was clean but needed to have the carpet vaccumed. Could not see any reason why this room was rated as one the best! Was it worth $165! NO! It was equivalent to a much lesser priced hotel. The food in the restaurant downstairs was VERY pricey....but VERY good!!! An eating experience!

Room Tip: Ask for a regular room. The 5th floor is way to pricey for what you get. Thunder Bay is almost impos...
