“Thunder Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We had a lovely stay in the Prince Arthur Hotel. It is a very old hotel. The fitness area was not used by us as it seemed lacking. We didn't use the pool. The staff were very freindly and our room was clean. The restaurant was amazing!! The food was very good with lots of choices. Great tea biscuits at dinner. The wait staff was excellent. Remembered what we liked to drink and spent time conversing with us. The waterfront was beautiful and kept clear of snow for walking. We enjoyed watching people skate both by daylight and until 9 at night.

“Booked two nights, stayed one!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I booked two nights recently to attend a training seminar being held at this location. In short, the single room was not much bigger then the bed itself, very cold draft through the old steel slider windows, noisey heater trying to keep up with the demand, bed was absolutely terrible/cheap resulting in 2 hours sleep all night (and I ain't no princess), woke up after two hours with spring prints in my back, went to get a shower to try to get some life and feeling back in my extremities only to find that the showerhead/spout valve was not working and only got a trickle, bathroom door would not close. The building was also old and somewhat run down.

Cancelled the booking for second night at 6:30 am and stayed at the Victoria Inn (recommended). I would definately not stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for anything newly renovated and to see room first.

“Good food...not much else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

My husband and I got a room for a wedding that we went to at The Prince Arthur.
The food was great and the staff at the dinner were very helpful and courteous.
When it came to cleanliness, lets just say we found socks around the bed that did not belong to us. Maybe the cleaning staff are annoyed with their ZERO water pressure. The beds were not very comfortable and we were told by the ladies at the front desk that we couldn't play music in our room after the wedding because the sound travelled so much in the hotel...and it did because anyone out in the hallway sounded like they were right beside you.

Room Tip: our room was on the second floor...descent view, but so loud!!

“A mixed Bag but not the best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

I couldn't find a room anywhere else so I wound here in the heart of an older downtown neighborhood. The price was quite high I thought and all they had available was a suite. I found the room to be pretty nice. It had been redone and was clean. The common areas of the hotel were not nice and were so dim It lent a creepy vibe to the place. There were dozen of people loitering around the lobby and street in front smoking and looking bored. I didn't eat or partake in any of the hotels amenities. I also never really saw anything that looked much like the photos here in TA. One big aggravation was the elevator that took forever and malfunctioned. Also there was no one to help with the luggage (typical of Canada). Would have been acceptable for about 1/2 the price paid.

Room Tip: The lakeside rooms are probably quieter. I would pick a room close to the fire escape

“Enjoyed our stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Our room was great. The bedding was lovely, soft and thick. The view was amazing. The service was good; friendly, attentive and helpful. Loved the lobby. Glad such a historic hotel is still going strong.
If fancy bathrooms are important to you, ask for one. Not an issue for me. Ours was basic, but perfectly clean and well maintained.
No continental breakfast, but the room rate makes up for this. Very reasonable.
