“Thanksgiving Week 2011”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

Again 6 nights of lots of pleasant help in the spotless confines of the Crossroads.
Fast check in but advise for anyone to make reservations well ahead of arrival time especially if staying for a longer period. The rooms were as spotless as ever with all the anemities that are required and the breakfast 36 seat room as clean and well stocked as ever. Oh yes and the woman in there still makes the greatest porridge ever as well as looking after everyone's needs.

Still the best place to stay in Thunder Bay and handy to all locations in the area.

See you again in the spring!!!

Room Tip: If you like watching planes then reserve a room at the front on the second or third floor for a good...

“Passable, but not my first choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

I had to stay here on business since my usual choice was unavailable. Lobby was small and kinda cramped. 6 people were waiting when I arrived and made it feel even smaller. Check in went alright, I did not have the problems that others have reported.

The room is a decent size. I had a standard room with a king bed. Desk size was good and I could have two laptops set up without problems. The fridge location is odd and very close to the bed. If you do plan on using it, be aware you will have constant fridge noise while trying to sleep. In addition to fridge noise, the walls are pretty thin. While working at desk in the room I could make out the entire conversation in the room next to me, even over the TV. Speaking of the TV, the armoire that houses the TV makes it impossible to see the TV from the desk. If you want to work and watch TV, you will need to shift around some furniture. I never used the wireless at the hotel since they have direct ethernet hookups available in the room. This was a pleasant surprise. I will always take a hardline whenever possible.

Continental breakfast was okay. I really enjoyed the hot oatmeal, but the coffee was nothing to be desired. They also do have a gym, which I never used on this trip, but the equipment they had did look quite good.

If I am in a bind, I would probably stay here again, but, it is not my first choice for hotel while staying in Thunder Bay.

“good location for travel in this city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Room was spacious and clean easy entrance from ground floor level. Great location very centrally located to just about all of thunder bay area.
Everyone seemed really friendly, the only thing that fell a little short was the restocking of items for the continental breakfast. We showed up around 8:45 am and even though there were only 3 people eating at that time everything was well picked over or empty.
We actually left and had breakfast down the road at Tim Hortons but other than that it was a good stay.

“noisy so bring ear plugs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

I stayed here one night during a quick trip to Thunder Bay. Check in went quickly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and the flat screen TV worked well. The room and bathroom were large and roomy. The continental breakfast was adequate.

The biggest problem I had was the noise. This was mostly from the busy street and the air traffic due to the nearby airport. The windows seem to funnel and amplify the noise.
As well, the air conditioner sounded like a train. There was a low rumbling sound that would come and go all night. I think this was an air conditioner in a nearby guest room. I was just getting to sleep when, in an adjacent room, the clock radio alarm went off about 3 am. They silenced it right away but the damage was done.

“Terrible Stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

Front desk attendant more into Internet than guest arrival; I had to speak to her first. She was quite unhelpful as to parks for my dogs; I could hear the plumbing -- water on and off -- in other rooms; hotel was in the flight path of Thunder Bay airport! High-speed internet was low-speed the night I was there!
