“Drunk, swearing, no respect for long term patrons.”

My boyfriend, myself, and another couple were going to stay overnight at this hotel in two different rooms. My boyfriend is an Ontario government fire fighter which is an emergency response service - they can be called out at any moment. Due to being called in, my boyfriend was not able to make it - and since there were two beds in a room, the 3 of us decided to stay in one room. We had the key overnight because we didn't know my boyfriend was not coming until they closed the office for the night.

My sister called the hotel asking to be put throught to our room, he said in a nasty tone "Is this Joanne?" (which is my name). My sister said "No" and he put her through.

At 8am the owners were outside our room with the music blaring from their truck. My friends are long time patrons of this hotel and are not the type to fight for their rights. They asked if the man would refund the second room and he refused, and they accepted that.

That night I went to the office at 8pm. It took a while for the man to come to the front - he was in the next room watching tv with some other people. He was at first sight obviously drunk as he stumbled up and slurred "What would you like". I first told him my name was Joanne and that my sister told me that someone from the front asked for me on the phone and was there any reason why I should come up to talk with them. He said "No, I have no idea what you're talking about".

I again explained why we had asked for a return on the room - My boyfriends emergency response position, the early close of the office, they still had vacancies, and they didn't have to clean the room.

He started swearing and waving his hands around at me saying "He didn't f'ing care" about anything I had to say, he was fine dealing with the other couple, they have been staying there forever, and this f'ing didn't have anything to do with me.... then he walked over to the lights and told me "just f'ing leave, just go"

I thanked him for his wonderful service ... and came directly to write this review.

Furthermore, the rooms and mattresses are old and dirty, no AC, old tv/phone, airplanes fly low over the hotel.

“Clean, but that's about all this place has going for it.”

I was visiting Thunder Bay with frugal friends and they booked this hotel, which cost $72/night (I guess that's reasonable for this area). I would not have chosen to stay here and definitely won't stay here again. A resident manager checked us in and I immediately knew what we were in for...he had on shorts, a saggy tanktop, bare feet and BO. Rooms are very dated--old furniture, small old television, no alarm clock, no wi-fi, no shampoo. Luckily, I arrived late and left early the next morning, so I was asleep for 7 of the 8 hours that I occupied the room.

“Horrible experience”

Traveling from Winnipeg to Sault Ste. Marie to visit family. Not knowing Thunder Bay very well, we were tired and didn't want to keep driving so we took a chance, as the outside didn't look too bad. It was dirty inside and very noisy- seemed like a truck stop type of place. Didn't get much sleep for all the noise that night and were a little afraid that it may not be that secure at night. We couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning and we still talk about how bad it was.

“DON'T stay here.”

What a duimp!!!!30C and no air-conditioning in any of the rooms. The carpets were so dirty (one can't imagine), that the NWHU should be notified, as this is very unhealthy. The owners should be ashamed to rent out these rooms for $65 per night. I shouldn't rate this place a 1-star, but the location was good for us. If you decide to try it (which we strongly recommend not to) make sure you have your own toiletries, as there weren't any. Nothing more to say-----DISGUSTING
