“Terrific hospitality-warm and inviting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Our experience started before we arrived.
We had to cancel our first reservation due to an unfortunate accident, and had several conversations with Elizabeth, who was most understanding. We rescheduled for two months later.

Once we arrived, we realized it was well worth the wait.
First, the location is great, since it is on a quiet street, that is walkable to the main street in NOTL, (about 15-20 minutes) but a very short drive as well. We liked being close to everything we wanted for our visit-including the Shaw Festival, wineries, shopping, restaurants, etc.
Elizabeth and Matt, the young, friendly couple who own this bed and breakfast do everything possible to make their guests feel welcomed and comfortable. And their two fluffy and energetic Pomeranians are cute and well-behaved.
We stayed in the Petronella suite which is a spacious and comfortable room with a king sized bed, sitting area, fireplace, and large bathroom with a jacuzzi for two and separate shower. A private balcony awaits for those who like to sit outside.
On the same floor, is a cozy guest sitting area as well as a fridge for guests. All very well thought out with guests comfort in mind.

The dining room where we ate for breakfast was pleasant-and wow, the breakfasts were delicious. Our first morning, Elizabeth made a wonderful, creative omelet for my husband, and (since I'm not a fan of eggs) waffles with fresh berries for me, accompanied by fresh croissants, fresh fruit, potatoes and beverages. She is very flexible and accommodating with dietary preferences that we mentioned when we booked.
They also engage in pleasant conversation, and run this place with professionalism, warmth and enthusiasm.
We wanted to try some wineries, and they made recommendations and provided directions and winery passes to each place.
Our 2nd morning we were treated to an awesome baked french toast dish with fresh berries and whipped cream, along with fresh baked muffins, to name a few things.
When we left, Elizabeth also packed us homemade cookies for the road-a very nice and generous touch which we enjoyed on our car ride back home.
We will highly recommend this B and B to our friends and family and would definitely stay here again when we visit the area. Hopefully we'll be able to get a reservation, since we anticipate this place will be very popular by the time we return.

Thank you Matt and Elizabeth for a wonderful stay!

“A PLACE TO TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT”

We stayed at Etherington Manor at the beggining of September, and couldn't have picked better accomodation. It is ideally situated, being only a short walking distance from the main street of the charming Niagra on the Lake. Elizabeth and Matt were the ideal hosts of their immaculate establishment, both having great knowledge of the local area, and always full of good advice, which was greatly appreciated. My wife can't tollerate eggs, and Elizabeth pulled out all the stops to create amazing egg free recipes. We will be recommending this B&B to anyone who is visiting this part of Canada.

“lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

just got back from a long weekend in Niagara-on - the - Lake. Beth and Matt made a lovely stay even nicer. The epitomy of hospitality, super rooms, beautifully appointed, but it was more the great food and the pleasant conversation, and friendly atmosphere that made it such a pleasant stay. Very helpful in recommending places to see, things to do and where to eat.
Great hosts!

Room Tip: we stayed in the Betty room,. most comfortable bed for a long time and a big jacuzzi tub

“Our Little Get Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Such a great experience. Our first time staying at a bed-n-breakfast. I wasn't sure how I would like it, seems like it would feel like staying at a strangers house. So not what I thought. Matt and Elizabeth make you feel like family the minute you walk in the front door. The home is so beautiful and so was the grounds around it. Clean and a huge comfortable bed, slept like a baby. Was sorry that we only had 2 nights to stay there. The food was wonderful. Elizabeth made us cookies for our road trip. Would recommend this b-n-b to anyone traveling to Niagara on the Lake, or anywhere near.

“Not your stereotypical "B & B"!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

My husband and I wanted to take a trip to NOTL for our anniversary, but were a little intimidated by the prices of all the hotels in the area, especially the ones that included breakfast. We almost decided not to go, but then started looking into B&B's. We had never stayed at a B&B before, and we were a little afraid that by going to one we would feel like we were staying at our grandparent's house.... NOT the case here at all! Their home was furnished beautifully and tastefully with modern decor. We felt like we were staying at a 5-star hotel! We stayed in the Lena suite- it was a large room with a fire place, sitting area, private balcony, large ensuite bathroom, and king sized comfy bed. Elizabeth showed us the other 2 suites as well, and quite honestly I don't think there is such thing as a bad room in the house- they all have the same features! Breakfasts were AMAZING, and Elizabeth made us cupcakes and gave us a bottle of wine for our anniversary- plus cookies for the road on the way home! In addition, Elizabeth helped us with recommendations on where to eat, places to go, and gave us free tasting passes to a couple local wineries. She even printed out a mapquest route for a day trip for us to the falls and a couple wineries. I don't think the hotels do that! Matt and Elizabeth are a fun, young, hip couple who will change the way you think about a B&B. If they had an Etherington Manor in every city we traveled to, we would stay there every time!
