Stayed 5 nights in January. We were in town for a funeral and wanted a reasonably priced hotel near restaurants etc. The hotel itself is very typical of a Crown Plaza hotel, very clean, nicely laid out rooms (though small bathrooms!) and very functional. Free wifi and wired internet access is offered. The walls are thin and you can hear a regular conversation going on in the hall (no shouting needed) and people in the rooms next to you. It wasn't a problem for us as the hotel had mainly conference attendees who don't tend to make noise late at night, but on the Saturday night it was very noisy through 4am.
As a priority club member, we had access to the free continental breakfast on the 7th floor (croissants, danishes, cereal, yogurts, fruit and coffee) which was a nice bonus - this is only offered Monday through Friday.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning crew were incredibly friendly and efficient. There is a pool, spa (no hairdressing) and fitness center onsite. This isn't listed on their website, so I didn't have a swimsuit with me to try it out, but it looked nice.
The hotel is located on King Street about four or five blocks down from the Hamilton Convention Center. It's an area of town that looks like it's been hit hard by the recession and there are a lot of shuttered storefronts and many pawnbrokers and cash for gold stores. We never felt unsafe walking around, but it isn't the greatest of views.
Parking is in a covered garage attached to the hotel. It was $8 per day and well worth it -- Hamilton in the winter can get quite snowy and it was nice not having to dig the car out when we needed it.
The hotel restaurant (Saffron) was dreadful -- will review it separately in the Restaurant section on here, but suffice to say avoid it. There is a 'hole-in-the-wall' cafe four minutes down the block called The Jet that does the best breakfast and lunches around with some of the best coffee to be had in Canada, definitely worth the trip.
