“Worst four nights of my life”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My recent stay was horrific because my room ad that stupid below the window air-conditioner unit. It's noisy and there isn't any fresh air being circulated. Talk about that cold and calmy feeling. The mattress was awful and the pillows were cheap sponge rubber. The room was very clean and did not smell of smoke. The shower was the typical stand in the tub routine while hoping for a little water to wash the soap out of my hair. The soap supplied was Neutrogena, which was better than expected. The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably well done. The noise from the transport trucks driving by ALL night is beyond disturbing. Basically, because of the cheap HVAC system in my room and the awful bed, I didn't sleep well and a good nights sleep is critically important. I'm thinking of sleeping on a park bench next time I visit Burlington, at least the air would be fresh.

Room Tip: Ask for the opposite side of the highway.

First, let me thank you for your note.
I see from your time frame, that we were sold out that week and we were not able to move you to another room unfortunately. It is our goal to ensure that your stay is both comfortable and enjoyable, therefore I'm sorry to hear that we did not meet all of your expectations. I hope that you will give our hotel another opportunity to ensure that your stay is more than satisfactory. Our King beds are "self adjusting" and they have individual dials to either soften or firm up the mattress so each guest has "just the right level" of personal comfort for a great night's sleep. I hope that we will have the opportunity to explain this in more detail during your next trip to Burlington. Thank you again for advising us about your stay. We hope to see you back soon.

“Best in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

It's a better than average Hilton Garden Inn due to the superior service and decent location.

The rooms and amenities inside the room are all you would expect, and the hotels pool and fitness room are also as small and average as you would see anywhere else.

The two things that stand out here are the service, especially the bartenders, and the proximity to some decent dining options. There are a number of restaurants around the block, which are almost within walking distance if it weren't Canada and cold.

Breakfast is what you'd expect from a HGI, and free for HH members if you so choose. The free newspaper is also a nice touch, except it's Canadian.

This place is usually sold out during the week, its definitely the best in the area, and the price usually reflects this.

“Nice hotel but very noisy in some rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

This is a reasonably typical Hilton Garden Inn, although the bar was a little nicer than usual. Bizarrely though they don't have Rickards beer on tap. The restaurant is part of the extended foyer and is small but pleasant and the food selection pretty good. All staff were friendly and helpful and there were ample supplies of free cookies at the front desk.
A high speed wifi was complimentary, as was a morning newspaper, although I don't know if this is a perk of being a HHonors member, so best check if you're not. Parking is free.
This hotel has a small gym and possibly the smallest swimming pool I have ever seen. If you tripped when standing on the side you would probably crack your head on the opposite one!
The rooms are clean and have a microwave and fridge. The hotel also features beds with adjustable mattress tension, if you're into that sort of thing.
I would give 4 stars to the hotel but for one thing - it is very close to the highway and if you get a room on that side of the hotel the 24hour traffic noise is pervasive and will wake you.

Tip: ask specifically for a room away from the highway side and this would be a 4 star rating.

“Excellent place to stay! Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel for yet another tournament. The staff was excellent & very nice to the kids. It was clean & a great price. The breakfast buffet was okay, although the cook made it seem as if he was doing us a favour by leaving the food out for us even though there was another hour until the end of breakfast.

“Great stay - clean, comfortable, quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Stayed here during the Thanksgiving weekend for a hockey tournament in Hamilton. Went through the group booking manager who was wonderful to deal with. Check-in for our team was easy and all the rooms were ready when we got there. The entire hotel, including the room, was spotless. Sometimes during the day they have a snack of warm cookies at the front desk. The kids figured this one out pretty quickly!

The pool is not huge, but good enough to entertain the kids for a while. The rooms we stayed in had two comfortable, clean queen-sized beds. The toiletries were Neutrogena brand which is always nice. The bathroom was clean and big enough. The temperature was easy to control and has a fan if you have light sleepers for white noise, although the hallways were quiet. We didn't use the fitness room, but my husband went for a run around the area. The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced ($10) for a nice selction of both hot and cold food. Didn't try the dinner.

There are tons of options around for food, entertainment and shopping within a minutes drive. It was about 20 minutes to the downtown Hamilton area by highway. If there is alot of traffic you can sometimes avoid it by travelling along the lakeshore, which is a beautiful alternative and only added about 5 minutes to the trip.

Overall a great stay and would recommend it for a family trip!
