“Wow, was this overpriced!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

A small motel that has been renovated. Squeaky warped floors, dark interiors. Smelled of old stale cigarettes. I guess they tried to fix it up, but $150 for a motel!!!!? are you kidding!!!

I would like to thank you for your comments, I have made changes to the rooms on the top floor. I have redone the floor system with new plywood under the new carpet and tile. All the room have new lights in living room area and fan light in bedrooms. I have done many reno's over the last five years to make my guests as comfortable as possible. I hope the next time you are in Penticton you stop in and see the new suites. Thank you

“The worst customer service!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Don't ever book in this hotel if you want to be treated with courtesy and respect. They are short staffed, the staff hangs up on you if they can't answer a question, their answer to everything is the owner is away for two weeks, call back then. They have a 30 day cancellation policy even if you only booked a week ago!

I have stayed in hotels and motels around the world and NEVER been treated by such rude staff as they are at this motel!

I am trying to put a stop on my credit card through MasterCard and will leave complaints everywhere I possibly can about how I was treated while trying to call prior to arriving, when I needed information.

Customer did not stay here. They phoned on the night of sept 12th (had reservation for the 15th). and was frantic on the phone; one minute she's asking about phone numbers, then cancellation policies. I had no idea what information she wanted. She was rude right off the bat as soon as I answered the phone. I barely got a word in, I couldn't defend myself to her. She also complained that there's no one answering the phone; is it my fault she calls 3 times in 10 minutes while I'm out walking my dog?! I am the only one here answering phones, heaven forbid if my dog needs to go to the bathroom! We ARE NOT a big hotel chain, there is not someone manning the phones 24/7! And if she wanted exceptional customer service maybe she should have been pleasent on the phone. A simple hello, my name is ______ , I need to cancel my reservation as I am not going to be able to make it. Like I said she was all over the place and her tone was very frantic and quite rude.
And we do not charge people's credit cards unless they are a no show or have had ample time to cancel and did not do so; which she did not as she did not as she only booked a week or so prior. The credit card was NOT charged, it never was going to be. And if she would've let me speak, would have found all this out. Also, I said that if she had a problem the manager (owner) would be back in two weeks and to contact him then. In my defense, if you want excellent customer service, be an excellent customer. You get what you give. I DON'T COME TO WORK EVERYDAY TO BE YELLED AT AND BELITTLED BY CUSTOMERS!!

Good Day!

“Best Motel ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

My husband and I have stayed in motels all through out Canada and the US and this this one was the best! The motel was so clean and comfortable! The owner was so very sociable and friendly. The cleaning staff were very caring and very good at what they do! We just cannot believe we had such an awesome stay at a motel! We will be back every summer!

“Cheap and very friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

We stayed in a standard room, with no kitchen. Very happy with the price and the friendliness of the office girl.

Its location is right on the highway near a lake, so the noise may bother some people, but we didnt mind so much.

The rooms are not the cleanest though and the inside kinda needs to be updated, but overall we though it was pretty good.

“Would stay here again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

Lakeside is great if you want to visit Penticton on a budget. This is a MOTEL ... not a hotel. You will have an outside door, a window set air conditioner and a smaller kitchnette. You will NOT have a private interior door, central air conditioning or a full kitchen. Our room was spotless on arrival (we found out that there had been a party there the day before so they were in the process of dry cleaning the rugs for us). The owners are a very nice couple that also run the day to day affairs. We didn't need daily cleaning. There is internet. I saw another review that says there wasn't but possibly the router was down that day because both our iPhones and laptop had internet from day one. The bed was a queen size and very comfortable. The tub was nice, clean and with a very cool shower curtain hanger that caused it to "balloon" out from the tub making it seem bigger. There was always lots of hot water. It took us a few hours to figure out the refrigerator had been turned down, but by the first night our groceries and beverages were nice and cold. As stated there is an in window air conditioner high up near the ceiling. Until 4 or 5 PM it does a great job of keeping the room comfortable. However, as the sun starts to set behind the building, the entire west wall just BAKES! This made the bedroom a little too warm for comfort and we had to open the windows and front door to try and get a cooler breeze once the sun set. Ceiling fans in the bedroom would most likely take care of this problem or a screen door at the front to prevent insects from getting in. Great access to Skaha Lake beach via an under ground tunnel. The beach at this end is more gravelly than sand, but we didn't mind as that meant fewer people as well. Very reasonably priced too. All in all, we had a great time and will be coming back.
