“We Enjoyed Our Stay...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

As is our custom, we decided to on a New Year's romantic couples getaway. We like to keep things local, so as to be able to fully enjoy ourselves without the need to travel. This year, it was at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. their "Getaway Package" included 2 nights with 1 dinner and 2 breakfasts.

Check-in was friendly and efficient and parking was convenient.

Our room was located - due to early booking - on the top (6th) floor and enjoyed a lake view. As it's the winter, while the view was very nice, it'd probably be even better during the warmer months. The room, itself, was a decent size and everything was clean. The furnishings, while not new, were in good working order. Flat screen tv was fine and the mini fridge kept things cold.

Nice room amenities. Good bathrobes are provided. The shampoo and stuff was all good product (if you care about such things!) and, unlike many other hotels, there's complimentary bottled water provided along with little coffee creamers (not the powder). Nice little touch. Additionally, an evening treat of delicious cookies and apples are brought to your room each evening.

The bathroom was comfortably large and well lit. Lot's of hot water and good pressure.

We had a king-size bed and found it to be very comfortable. Better than average sitting area, too. If there's any criticism to be made, it would be with the heating/cooling unit. A friend, in the industry, calls these units "wallbangers" and they're very common in hotels. This one, while not loud all the time, had moments (unfortunately, in the wee hours) where it was REALLY loud. Only happened a couple of times, but, management should be aware that it foretells of a need to change it, soon.

The indoor pool and hot tub were good. The water, in the pool, was nice and it's large enough to do laps - if that's what you want! The hot tub was, well...hot! Nice jets, too. The fitness centre, unfortunately, was closed due to the holiday (it's part of a fitness club), but, in looking through the window, it looks spacious with lots of new equipment. The business centre looks pretty nice, as well.

We enjoyed both on-site restaurants and the bar and found them to be quite nice. Separate reviews, on those.

The casino is REALLY small. It's ok. Probably would have liked it a lot more if I'd have won...

It was a nice stay. Worth checking out, if you're in Penticton.

Room Tip: Book early and request the 6th floor lake view.

“not acceptable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We decided to celebrate our anniversary at this place. Really...the TV didn't work..finally found out it was the connection. Fridge came with milk and bread (not ours!) and crumbs on the floor. Nice cigarette burns on the rug. For a hotel in this class? I expected better. All rooms with a view...ours was the roof. Also charges $5 for self parking. There are so many better places. Don't let fancy ads fool you. Take it from those that have actually paid to stay in these places.

Room Tip: Lake view was nicer but smelled and heater is noisy...moved to no view but quieter

“VERY FINE STAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Took my mother there to celebrate her 90th birthday. The reception could not be more welcoming, even provided a cheese/fruit tray gratus. The rooms have been tastefully decorated from top to bottom with fine attention to detail. Out of a choice three restaurants we selected Buffleheads for exquisite Italian dining.
Again the food and service from Marcos and Alix was the best. Thank you to David and staff for helping to make my Mom's birthday real special.

“Another great stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

This was our second stay at the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price of the room. The rooms are a nice size and nicely appointed and clean. Little extras, like fresh cookies, apples, bottled water and the daily paper delivered to the door each morning are appreciated. We have found all staff very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: We do lakeview in the off peak times as the lakefront patios below can be noisy. If you are a light...

It is always wonderfully reassuring for all our staff at the Penticton Lakeside Resort, to receive positive reinforcement from our guests regarding their visit. We understand any feedback takes a certain amount of time, effort and care, and we appreciate the fact that you have gone out of your way to share your positive experience. It is incredibly reconfirming to hear that all the small details of service, customer care and appreciation we tend to, come together to provide our guests with the kind of memorable experience we strive to give. Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you again!

“disappointing visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I have stayed several times at The Lakeside resort but this time |I was dissappointed. I mainly stay for the location and that certainly hasn't changed and I still enjoy the lake view, but I felt this time that my room seemed worn out. The walls need paint or a good cleaning, the bathroom also needs a good scrub. I returned to my room one evening and could smell something hot or burning. I called up front desk and they decided that it was a light bulb that was burning hot and scorching. They unplugged the lamp but left me in the stinky room. I was disappointed that a hotel at their level did not offer a fresh room. Needless to say that was not a good night. Also there were kids teams in the hotel and they were playing hockey in the hotel
corridors. Security did ask them to pack it up but it was disturbing to other guests. I will certainly look around for other options next time I am in Penticton, if it wasn't for the location I know I would stay elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback regarding your latest visit to the Penticton Lakeside Resort. It is truly unfortunate that you had a disappointing stay this particular time around, in spite of your apparent history with us. We pride ourselves in upholding a high standard for all our guests, and are very proactive when it comes to ensuring our rooms are continually renovated, upgraded, and kept fresh throughout the year. Each room is carefully inspected and major updates are conducted a number of times annually. We apologize sincerely for the miscommunication over the light-bulb incident, which confused any impetus for a room change, and hope that should you choose to stay with us again, interaction and clear communication with our front desk staff will help to ensure a more agreeable and impressive experience. Additionally, while we are a family friendly resort, we encourage kids’ teams and their families to take advantage of our many resources and venues. That being said, we therefore work tirelessly to maintain the noise level at a minimum so to accommodate the wants and needs of all our guests. Hopefully the particulars of your last stay will not deter you from choosing to stay with us again, and trust that the next time will be a much more pleasant and enjoyable experience.
