“Good value, good location, clean and quiet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We chose the Sandman because of its proximity (300 metres) to the Convention Centre which was our jumping off point for events of the fall wine festival. The weekend rate was reasonable. Parking was easy and convenient. The check-in process was smooth and the front desk staff were pleasant and efficient. As noted in other reviews, the hallway and rooms feel a bit dated. Regardless, our room was clean, comfortable and quiet.

If I had one criticism it would be the food service in the lounge was painfully slow. Our server took the order promptly but we waited 45 minutes for an order consisting of a couple of simple appetizers.

We would stay at the Sandman again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a kitchenette if you like to have access to a fridge.

“Sufficient place to stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Far from fancy but close to the convention centre and easy access to the beach. Stayed in a room with a kitchenette (stove, fridge, sink) - handy for keeping farmers' market veg fresh. Lobby and bar have been renovated but rooms could use a bit of a makeover. Did not use pool but others seemed to be enjoying it.

Room Tip: Some rooms open right onto the central indoor pool. Good for kids. Might be noisy.

“Great cheap stop over place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

We stayed there for 1 night while in Penticton for the Keith Urban concert. A smallish but clean and reasonable room with wifi. Great location for going to the SOEC. The pub was super busy and took 1 hour to get our food but great food, free ufc fights and they gave us 25% off for taking so long. I would stay there again. Good service at good prices.

“Avoid the pool if you have sensitve skin!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

The girls at the front desk were nice and helpful don't get me wrong about the service was good but the hotel itself I'm not impressed. The front lobby is modren, sleek and really nice looking. However once your in the lobby is the same old same old dated decor. The room we had was okay, I didn't like it the bathroom door did not lock, the beds we had were not comfortable at all, I had backache most nights and I already suffer from back problems. If you happen to take a shower or bath at the same time as someone staying in the room beside or above you the water temperture changed a bit and you lost water pressure. About the pool: The first time I used it I was disapointed the pool looks its only 1 meter deep all around, I didn't get my face wet the first night and just relaxed in the hot tub, which is nice. I did notice my face nipped a bit but didn't think much of it. The second time I went I did some laps in the pool and got my face wet, when I came out my face was burning! I went back to my room took a shower applyed some moisturizer and that made it worse! I only went one more time to the pool area after that and my face broke out in hive like sores and stung for days like a bad sunburn. It still looks a little sore. Overall the location is great, the staff nice and helpful but the hotel itself blah.. Not impressed.

“great customer service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

Attended a car club meeting and stayed at this hotel for 3 days. The staff were very accomodating to us and our group of approximately 100 people. I would highly recommend to anyone planning a group event. The hotel itself is nothing fancy but contained everything we needed for a nice stay. Good parking and lots of it, restaurant on site for breakfasts etc., friendly service. Nice clean rooms fairly new looking, large swimming pool, and great proximity to many restaurants (walking distance) or a little drive gets you downtown. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when I am in Penticton. Thank you to all of the great staff that went the extra mile in making our stay and club meet such a great success.
