“Ok......just!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We stayed here overnight on the way to Jasper. The rooms are very dated, very small and yes overpriced. This property probably has THE most awesome location in the world but they really don't make the most of it. What we did enjoy was the hospitality at the restaurant, all be it VERY expensive. Rocky Mountain House is just 2 hours away so it can't cost that much more to bring in the food!

“A handy coffee stop on the Icefields Parkway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Although the address is 'Lake Louise' it is actually 77 km (48 miles) from the village and is one of the few food stops along the Icefields Parkway. Situated at the Saskatchewan River Crossing. Accommodation, cafe, and gift shop. Good parking, even for RVs. It's average but gets so many visitors as it's probably the only food stop for 130 kms. Seemed to be a popular stop for coaches and bikers.
http://www.thecrossingresort.com/location.html. Lots of nice day trips from there (see my other reviews), but you're probably better heading up to Jasper and staying there. Remember that like a lot of the places on the Icefield Parkway it shuts end of Oct to April.

“Blood on the bed comforter, need I say more?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We stayed for three nights in this hotel because we were there with a group and thus had no other options. First, the room. Very old style, charmless, uncomfortable bed and the worst was finding fresh dried blood on the comforter. Second, the food was very expensive - a hot dog, a small cup of potato salad, two chocolate chip cookies and two beers set us back $41.00 CAD. Not only was the food extremely overpriced, the food was unappetizing served in a basic cafeteria style in a totally charmless "cafe". Because of the remote location, guests here have no other options and are a captive audience to the hotel who can be free to charge outrageous prices for awful food and terrible rooms.

“Fantastic Location”

This was not my first stay at the Crossing Resort, which is just as well as If I had not had prior experience I would have been put off by the really bad reviews here. I can only imagine that the people suggesting that you just keep driving miss read the word Motel for Fairmount.

I agree that for what you get the price is a bit high but your average motel does not have the same surroundings and this was still the cheapest accommodation for our whole trip. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable; the decor is a bit old but as the resort is only open for half of the year there is not much incentive for the management to update it.

The staff on check in and checkout were friendly and helpful enough and were no different to most of the other hotels staff that I experienced on my trip and the breakfast was on a par with others in Banff or Jasper and cheaper.

My key reason for using and returning to the resort is its location, at roughly halfway between Lake Louise and Jasper it is an ideal spot to break a journey along the ice fields parkway giving you extra time to take in the many scenic Hikes, take a helicopter flight or spend extra time at the Ice fields centre. A stay at the resort also gives you the opportunity to take in the stunning sunsets and sunrises.

When booking a room at the resort you have a choice of Mountain View or standard, this is a bit of a misnomer as there are mountains in every direction.

Room Tip: When booking a room at the resort you have a choice of Mountain View or standard, this is a bit of a...

“Accommodation just about ok, food awful. Stop here only if you must.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

We stayed 2 nights so that we could take our time on the glaciers and do some high-level walking. The room was basic and clean - nothing more. The reception staff were indifferent. Previous reviews about the food also applied in our case. The dining room was closed, but we still paid 'high season' rates for the room. We were required to cook our own frozen meat on a grill in the pub. The cafe/restaurant was nothing more than a 'greasy spoon'. There are NO alternatives for food within miles. The hot tub was out of order, and another guest told us it was not working on a previous visit 12 months ago. We are pretty easy going - this was a convenient stop for our purposes but no more.
