“Very Pleasant Stay, Great Ambience”

Really liked this place, it’s not in the centre of Banff so it’s a drive to get into town (or get the free bus) but it’s a very pleasant place to stay. Rooms are clean, well appointed and spacious and the hotel as a really pleasant ambience to it that seemed to be missing from other properties in the area.

Particularly recommend the lovely spa area, we had it to ourselves when we were there. Worth the outlay, good value for money.

“"Nice Hotel"”

I stayed with my family for 3 nights between Christmas and new years. The Hotel has been recently renovated, the bathrooms looked really nice and clean, they still need to change the carpets on the hallways that looked really old. The hotel is conveniently located within a walking distance form the town center, we walked to the stores, there is a supermarket close by to buy snacks and food to take to the mountains and not have to pay the prices at the ski resorts, we also walked to the movie theater. Hotel has an underground parking and ski lockers included in the room price. We ate twice at the Keg, and the food was good. Even though we used the hotel mostly for sleeping after all day skiing, we found it a good choice during that time of the year and it did offer us a good night of restful sleep. I would recommend it to couples and families.

Thank you for the review and feedback. I am happy to report that our hallway carpets are now replaced on the first and second with a beautiful wool carpet and our third and fourth floors will be complete by the first week of February. We hope you make it back to stay with us again soon.

“Banff Caribou - A very warm experience”

We stayed one night between Christmas 2011 & New Year and wished it could have been longer. The staff were very friendly & helpful & the room very comfortable. It easily accommodated our party of 4. The location, while on the edge of town, was only a 10 minute walk into the town centre. We would return and recommend this hotel to friends.

“Will be returning to the Banff Caribou Lodge!”

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in January 2012. We booked through a third party and the room was excellent for how little we paid...it is Banff after all. The lobby is beautiful with a wood burning fireplace that permeates the entire hotel. Having the Keg Steakhouse attached to the hotel is an added bonus, and they also offer room service for all meals. The hotel is not in an ideal downtown location, although the hotel does offer free bus rides. It's only a $6 cab ride to downtown so that's the route we chose. Free underground parking and WIFI internet, although the parkade clearance is only 6'4". Not a huge deal as we were able to park our truck on the street around the side of the hotel. We had a standard room, with two queen beds. I'm sure most would love the feather beds, although we found them hot and not supportive as our firm mattress at home. I think they're still in the process of renovating the hotel, as the carpets were pretty bad and there was a lack of signage directing the guests. The hot tub is a must if you're staying at the hotel!!! As well the Red Earth Spa is reasonably priced with personalized services. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the street and was quite noisy at night.

“Not As Accessible as Ad Claims”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

My husband who is in a wheelchair and I stayed in room 304. We had read through hotel discriptions prior to booking at a hotel as we needed a room that was wheelchair accessible. The description at this hotel sounded perfected. The room was too small for my husband to move about on his own, that is after we struggled to get through the heavy door to our room, after waiting for one of the elevators for 10 minutes that wasn't full of people so we could fit on. The room was super hot, you could hear ever conversation going out in the hallway while you tried to sleep. I had requested a tub chair like offered in the description, no one seemed to understand what I was talking about. Overall all it looks like a nice place from the outside but the carpets in the hallway are wore, the hallways are dimely lite and narrow, and the walls are paper thin. We have stayed in budget motels have this price that are more accessibilty to people with disabilties.

Building a wheelchair accessible room should be an easy task; regulations are available and interest groups are always willing to help. If we have misjudged the accessibility of our new rooms, it will be from feedback such as yours that we can improve our rooms for the better. I have already ordered door stoppers to ensure future guests will not struggle with this unnecessary inconvenience. We will work toward resolving many of the issues you have pointed out and apologize your stay did not meet your expectations and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you further. I invite future guests to refer to our website for an accurate description of the amenities available in our accessible rooms and to discuss possible improvements with one of our management team. After all, we work for you.
