“Overpriced but otherwise typical Delta”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2012

Private Alpine Garden? More like concrete patio blocks, one tree and the smoker's ashtray. Do not pay even one cent more for the "private garden" room upgrade. It is nothing more than the roof over the lobby covered with concrete patio blocks that about five or six second floor rooms have access to. Not only was it completely barren of any plant life - save one lonely sapling - but there were no benches and you get to share your fresh air with the puffers.

Otherwise a typical Delta hotel supplanted into an older hotel building. The pool room however was quite nice, well executed, and relaxing.

Room Tip: It's Banff: by law you have to overpay for your room, but don't get duped into paying even m...

“Great stay for a Birthday!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2012

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday this past weekend, and we had a fantastic stay!

When I made the reservation, I had mentioned that we would be coming for his birthday. Upon arrival, we discovered a birthday card and some treats in the room for him, which was a great touch. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean, and huge!

We stayed in one of the suites with the fireplace on the third floor, and had no noise issues at all (even with the wedding going on downstairs). The view looked out onto the street, with some mountains in the background which wasn't bad at all. The room was equipped with two robes (which you don't normally find in non-jacuzzi rooms) and it was a pleasant surprise. The price wasn't too bad. A little steep, but totally normal for Banff on a weekend.

All of the front desk staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful (even Night Audit). We signed up for the Delta Privilege while staying there, and then discovered it gave us an automatic 3pm checkout, which was great and gave us more time together in the morning.

As someone who spent years in the hospitality industry working with Hilton, I've come to expect a high level of service. The Delta definitely provided us with this type of service, and I would absolutely recommend the hotel to anyone in the Banff area.

“Mother's Day in the Mountains!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2012

Stayed at the Royal Canadian Lodge for Mothers day weekend. We always go up and stay on the friday to miss the crowds. as always the Delta Royal was beautiful!!!
This time however there was a wedding in the hotel on the saturday and the pool was full of little children.
The Grotto spa uses the hotel pool as part of their package and it is a lovely , tiny, seductive, retreat. We were not expecting to share it with an entire wedding party, all with young children.

When booking will ask the hotel if there is a wedding group booked next time to avoid this. The pool is not a family , children kind of pool...it is very small with waterfalls, stone work and spa music. I love children but this was not the atmosphere I was hoping fro with my 70 year old mum.

The room was delightful , however, ..pillows were very hard.....mum had a sore neck.

Three of us gals stayed here and it was elegant enough to make us feel special. No lounge at the property so we bring our own cocktails! NOT a problem for us!

This is our fourth consecutive year and will continue coming even though the Delta does not offer anything special for mothers day for repeat visitors!
Very quiet, romantic spot and close to all amenities.

Room Tip: Premier rooms have fireplaces..............gotta have one of those!!!! They do have rooms with acce...

“Good Floor Plan For 3 - Otherwise Nothing Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights. The room floor plan was great. A dressing room with sink and closet as well as a separate water closet with sink and tub enables multiple adults to get ready at the same time. Other than that the room was nothing special and could stand to be freshened up. No luxury items. Staying here provides a bare bones, safe, quiet nights sleep. The pool /hot tub area are OK when the numbers of users are small but unusable when more. Didn't eat at hotel restaurant as too expensive and has lots of very good restaurants(i.e. Coyotes). Hotel does have free underground parking. Easy walking distance to downtown and Bow River.

“A great one-night stay in Banff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2012

We stayed here for one night before going on to stay at the Fairmont Banff for a wedding... The Delta had very reasonable rates, and the room we received was large, clean and inviting... The bathrooms were large and we were very impressed by them... The front desk lady also helped us to find the Banff Info Centre to pick up a park pass the next day, since we arrived very late at night... The only complaint I could have is that there was no parking available in their parking garage. We did have to park on the street behind the hotel, but it was free and it wasn't so bad...Overall a great experience, and I would stay here again :)
