“Great weekend in the Rockies”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Originally my husband and I had looked at the Banff Springs Hotel for our stay - but although it is wonderful to stay at the castle in the Rockies, the prices are outrageous for a tiny little room. We ended up staying at The Rimrock and it was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and the views of the mountains and valley were excellent. We especially love the Larkspur Lounge where we enjoyed a festive hot chocolate by the huge fireplace while we were reading or visiting with our friends. We spent quite a bit of our time there as we went with a group of people for a birthday party. The first night we went in to Banff for dinner at the Grizzly House (which is an excellent choice for fondue -- but you smell like a deep fryer afterwards!!) and then headed back to the resort to have some cocktails in the Larkspur. The second night, my husband and I enjoyed dinner at the Primrose Dining Room. The food was spectacular - my husband had the braised lamb chop and I had the sablefish and lobster claw linguini -- to die for!! The food and service is unequaled. My husband and I did not want to go back to the real world after our weekend stay at the Rimrock. I definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend or family weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Thank you for sharing your experience with The Rimrock on TripAdvisor.
I am glad to read that you enjoyed your time with us, and especially the Larkspur Lounge. You truly can not beat the view from our Panoramic windows, or the home made warmth that comes from our Grand fireplace. I was overjoyed to share your feedback on both Larkspur Lounge, as well your dining experience in Primrose with our Executive Chef and his culinary team. There is a great deal of passion that each of our team members put into their work, and we are extremely pleased that it shows on a plate.
We look forward to your next visit with us, and to welcoming you back to your Rocky Mountain home.

Sincerely,

Cara Ullyot

“Outstanding”

The Rimrock is an amazing resort. They had excellent service and the staff was very friendly. They were helpful with every problem I had, even recommendations on attractions and restaurants. They are very helpful especially to new comers to Canada. The food was very good. They delivered excellent room service. I thought the views very especially breathtaking. The location is great, very close to the Banff. My room was very clean and there were nice places to sit near the lobby. There was a nice little gift shop that sold a good amount of things you would probably forget like toothbrushes, deodorant, and a variety of other things as well as snacks and drinks and souvenirs of course. The pool was very clean and they had a nice exercise area. I highly recommend this resort.

Room Tip: The lower the number of the floor, the better the view. Also, the better views are in the back.

“Missed the Small Details”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We received a night at the Rimrock as a Christmas gift and went there for the first time in January after hearing a lot of fabulous things about the hotel. While we were impressed with the location and ambience, the hotel seemed to be missing out on the details. For example, when we checked in they didn't activate our room cards so we had to go back to the front desk, the parkade is extremely small and difficult to park in, our bed significantly caved to the middle, the curtain rods were broken so the curtains didn't close all of the way and the hair dryer didn't work. Of course, the staff fixed all of the things we mentioned to them, but the point is that we shouldn't have had to ask for the price that this hotel is charging.

Stayed there for our honey moon, we were absolutely spoiled!

Room Tip: Choose a suite overlooking the town and the Banff golfcourse to the North!

“Beautiful property with excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

As a local ( I live in Calgary) I have seen this hotel many times and when recently having a friend visit decided to stay at the Rimrock. What a treat. First I have to tell you about the location. Although many have complained about its location ( it is approx 3 km up a mountain road- just a stones throw from the Hot Springs and Gondola) the view is definitely worth the location. There is a free shuttle that will take you into downtown Banff if you prefer not to drive in. The view is incredible a vast sweeping view of the Valley and Mountains. WOW. Even though I have seen the mountains many many times, waking up to this view was incredible.
We booked a special SOAK package which included 2 hot breakfasts, 2 Hot spring vouchers ( including towel) as well as a fee room upgrade. This only cost 208 dollars. Definitely worth it. The room upgrade meant we got a premium room. Our room was located on the 7th floor. From about the 7th floor up you are clear of the trees and have an unobstructed view. The hotel itself is built down the side of the mountain and is gorgeous.
Our room was very large - with 2 large double beds a flat screen TV work desk sitting area by the window as well as little touches like bathrobes, coffee maker and stocked mini bar. Only downside of the room was the bathroom, someone on here noted that it was dated and sparse, I have to agree. It was just average - nothing special.
The hotel itself was quiet and relaxing. The service was great. I have a broken foot at the moment and the bellman very happily drove me and my friend up to the Hot Springs and picked us up. They didnt want a tip for it, but we insisted.

We went to the Primrose Dining Room and were very impressed with both the beauty of the restaurant as well as the view of the mountains. The food was excellent, and the service equally so. Parking was heated and underground with an elevator up to the other levels for check in... considering it was - 30 Celsius it was a godsend.
All in all, I was very happy with the Rimrock and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to others and stay there again.

Room Tip: Choose a room from the 7th floor or higher for an unobstructed view.
