Originally my husband and I had looked at the Banff Springs Hotel for our stay - but although it is wonderful to stay at the castle in the Rockies, the prices are outrageous for a tiny little room. We ended up staying at The Rimrock and it was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and the views of the mountains and valley were excellent. We especially love the Larkspur Lounge where we enjoyed a festive hot chocolate by the huge fireplace while we were reading or visiting with our friends. We spent quite a bit of our time there as we went with a group of people for a birthday party. The first night we went in to Banff for dinner at the Grizzly House (which is an excellent choice for fondue -- but you smell like a deep fryer afterwards!!) and then headed back to the resort to have some cocktails in the Larkspur. The second night, my husband and I enjoyed dinner at the Primrose Dining Room. The food was spectacular - my husband had the braised lamb chop and I had the sablefish and lobster claw linguini -- to die for!! The food and service is unequaled. My husband and I did not want to go back to the real world after our weekend stay at the Rimrock. I definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend or family weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
