We stayed two nights in Room 524 (on the 3rd floor) located in what looked like an addition, away from the main lobby. It was somewhat small but clean. The classic decor was interesting. The queen bedding was basic, but, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small with a low ceiling making the shower space very dark with the curtain closed. Although this room was in the addition and updated somewhat recently, it had it's blemishes. The bay-like window looked over Banff Ave. with a view of Sulpher Mt. in the background. The Internet connection was somewhat slow; adequate to websearch and e-mail documents, which I did. The checkin and checkout staff were fine. I was able to find parking even after returning in the evening. The entire town of Banff experienced a blackout for 3-4 hours. We got back into town after 8pm and most everything was closed. Hard to find dinner in a powerless town and the businesses were hurt this night. However, Mount Royal somehow had backup power. There was electricity throughout the hotel when the rest of the town was black. The on-premise restaurant was one of the few open and serving as well as the adjacent pub downstairs at basement level. There is something to be said for that. I would consider staying here again for under one twenty.

This hotel is a great place if you want to be centrally located in Banff. The rooms are clean, well priced and getting more modernized year after year. I like this hotel, especially the Pinnacle Suite for larger gatherings. The only downside is that there is no swimming pool.

Situation is really good. Small hotel with 3 floors. Rooms we saw were all small though that's to be expected in this area. Clean. Expect some noise if at the front due to drunken idiots of all nationalities including locals. Free wi fi is rubbish. Mountain view from rooms is fabulous.

Stay here! The Mount Royal is a location to die for - right in the beautiful town of Banff with access to public transport outside your front door and coach tours by Brewster at the back door! They even have a waiting lounge when you are waiting for a tour or transit bus to Calgary. The hotel has its own bar and restuarant but is also connected to another one downstairs - so you have choice without having to brave the cold weather too. The reception staff were helpful and they ahve a lovely quiet space for internet access for geusts without computers. It was a home away from home for us. All the staff, including houekeeping were really friendly and Stirling at the tour desk was full of information, hints and tips as well as being friendly. The rooms were a nice size and very clean. Classically decorated we had a room with two queen beds and still had room to move with three of us in there. Great stoarge capacity in the rooms. You can't go past the Mount Royal for location, service and feeling very 'Rocky Mountain'. Would stay again in a heartbeat. In fact I just want to go back ... all of Banff is magic.
