I found this hotel through internet, looking for a place to sleep for me and my two teenager daughters near the beautiful Valle de las Piedras Encimadas (the "Piled Stones" Valley), in the state of Puebla.
The Hotel Hacienda Casa Grande is five blocks away from Zacatlan main square and three from the factory where most of Mexico's public clocks are made. The Centenario factory, created in 1919, is open for public visits and has a little museum.
When I was told by phone that the rate would be 468 pesos (40 dollars) for a triple room I did not expect much, because I was just looking for a good place to sleep, but I was gladly surprised when I saw the hotel. The room had recent furniture, cable TV and a parking lot in the premises. The food at the restaurant at the hotel was excellent and below the prices I regularly pay in Mexico City for that kind of dishes and attention.
We took a two double bed room, which was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean, with new towels and courtesy shampoo.
The managers were very courteous. They told me that if I did not need a bill, I could pay just 400 pesos (without taxes).
I would definitely come back again to the Hacienda Casa Grande.
