The scale of this resort is breathtaking. We were told that there are 650 units in this unbelievable complex of swimming pools, restaurants, vacation facilities and moving golf carts. The large buildings in the complex start at the beach level and climb to the hights of a high hill several hundred feel above the Pacific. Everything is beautifully landscaped and meticulously maintained (we never saw so much as a scrap of paper out of place anywhere on the ground). The central area, housing the front desk, health club, some restaurants, the lobby and reception areas, beautifully replicates the public areas of an old Mexican hacienda. The apartment units are nicely furnished and equipped, spacious, and all afford breathtaking views of the ocean. Our unit (building 19) had a view of both sunrise and sunset, plus an occasional group of whales covorting just beyond the shore line. To get from one place to another, golf carts are at your almost immediate beck and call. You have the option of stationing yourself comfortably at any of the several magnificent swimming pools, where spot-on pool-side service for food and drink are available on command. The front entrance and guest receiving area, are unbelievably efficient and user friendly. Although we were at first sceptical about staying in a place of this size, we were soon amazed to find that we never felt that we were part of a crowd, everything worked like clockwork, the service was friendly and amazingly available. Except for one failure at breakfast in The Bistro Restaurant, the food and drinks were excellent (although on most nights we went into Cabo for dinner). To answer the question: upon which level of the complex should one stay (given a choice), after a week of thinking about it, we really can't say. It doesn't much matter.
In short, the Pueblo Bonito management of this place, along with the exceptional personnel who make it run so well, should be highly congratulated for achieving nothing short of a miracle.
